Perfect Channel 4 sitcom that’s a “masterpiece of British weirdness” is now on Netflix

The BAFTA award-winning comedy Stath Lets Flats has just been added to Netflix.

Back in 2018, I stumbled upon this hilarious sitcom on Channel 4 that’s been keeping me entertained ever since. It ran for a solid three seasons, and luckily for me (and you!), it’s still available to stream there.

The comedy series “Stath Lets Flats” was developed jointly by Jamie Demetriou, known for “Fleabag,” and Robert Popper from “Friday Night Dinner.” In this production, Demetriou portrays the leading character Stath, a Greek-Cypriot individual who plays a role within his family’s business – a London property rental agency, which is managed by his father.

According to the official summary, Stath is employed at Michael & Eagle’s family business and strives not to be overshadowed by Carole, a relentlessly ambitious agent.

In the series, Demetriou’s real-life sibling, Natasia Demetriou, takes on a key role as another lead character. Additionally, the ensemble features Kiell Smith-Bynoe, known for his work in ‘Ghosts’, and Katy Wix, who has acted in ‘Ted Lasso’ and ‘Big Boys’.

As a dedicated gamer, diving into the immersive world of Stath Lets Flats felt like stepping into a critically-acclaimed masterpiece. This debut season scored an unbeatable 100% on Rotten Tomatoes, a testament to its universal appeal and quality that had critics raving about it.

The Globe and Mail labeled it a “small British oddity masterpiece,” while the London Evening Standard’s critique noted: “There are instances of traditional, undeniably British, humor. Demetriou delivers an authentic portrayal as Stath, swimming fiercely beneath the surface as everything around him falls apart.

The Guardian pointed out that both Stath and Sophie delivered charming performances, and it’s no wonder they convincingly portrayed a genuine connection between their characters.

Supporters of this series often refer to it as a “truly remarkable find”, expressing that it is essential viewing for those who appreciate witty, eccentric British humor.

2019 saw the arrival of the highly-awaited second season for Stath Lets Flats, and back then, we shared that its premiere had viewers in stitches. We even referred to its return as “the present everyone desires.

Stath Lets Flats is now available on Netflix and Channel 4.
