Jack Quaid reveals unusual Christopher Nolan compliment he got on Oppenheimer
Jack Quaid reflected on his experience working on Christopher Nolan‘s “Oppenheimer,” sharing that the esteemed director offered him an unanticipated praise.
In the film that won an Oscar for Best Picture, directed by Christopher Nolan, the character portrayed was Richard Feynman, a Nobel Prize-winning theoretical physicist. Feynman was among the real-life personalities depicted in this motion picture, which focused on the creation of the atomic bomb. In this context, “Companion” star refers to the actor who played Richard Feynman.
Although Quaid had a minor part, he captivated everyone with his bongo-playing reminiscent of Feynman. Known for his passion for the percussion instrument, Feynman was often seen playing it in different scenarios.

In a chat with Men’s Health, the actor from The Boys disclosed that Nolan was highly impressed by his talent for playing the bongos in a group setting.
One moment I truly enjoyed during filming stood out, as it involved me playing the bongos quite frequently, according to Quaid.
However, I recall filming the Christmas party scene, and it was truly awe-inspiring. In that scene, I was playing the bongos, essentially serving as an extra, but my role didn’t matter in the slightest. Instead, I found myself taking in the room, filled with stars like Kenneth Branagh, Emily Blunt, Cillian Murphy, Matt Damon – all of whom were giving performances that seemed to be the pinnacle of their careers. I was simply privileged enough to witness it all.
It was amazing, but the next day, we moved on to another scene. Suddenly, Chris paused everything, looked at me intensely, and said with a hint of Nolan’s voice, ‘I’ve watched the bongo scene footage – you truly left an impression on me.’
Quaid described the moment as “really surreal, really weird, but so great”.
He was surprised beyond belief when he received a praise from Christopher Nolan that he had never expected in a trillion years, but it happened right before his eyes.
The actor from the movie “Scream,” set to appear next in “Novocaine,” earlier discussed his experience learning to play the bongos for the role of Feynman, attributing his newfound skill to the tutelage he received from his co-star David Krumholtz during their work on “Oppenheimer.
“The Bongos were real,” Quaid wrote on Instagram in November 2023.
“I found myself thoroughly captivated by Feynman during my research – he’s become an inspiring figure for me. / Kudos to the talented @davidkrumholtz, who not only plays the bongos but also graciously shared some lessons with me. Thanks a bunch!
