Swae Lee’s Coachella performance on the first night hit a snag when his set was unexpectedly cut short mid-song at the Sahara Stage, disappointing fans.
Fans affectionately nicknamed the festival ‘Swaechella,’ but were disappointed and confused when Lee’s performance seemed to end abruptly, leaving them wondering if that was all he had planned, according to TMZ.
Lee, 32, took to X to say how sorry he was and to let people know next week would be better.
‘We rocking out next week ! I’m sorry yall,’ the Won’t Be Late hitmaker promised.
Lee delivered an energetic performance featuring several songs from his album, Same Difference. Unfortunately, a power outage prevented him from performing all of his most popular songs, a report stated.
The rapper’s concert faced unexpected issues, and he was upset when his performance was cut short. He pleaded with the event staff to let him play his hits, “Black Beatles” and “This Could Be Us,” but they wouldn’t allow it, as his time was up.
I was absolutely devastated when Lee just left the stage! Seriously, it was awful. Everyone around me was so upset, and the second we could, we all rushed to Twitter and Instagram to vent. It was like, how could he?! We were all so disappointed!
Okay, so Coachella had a bit of a buzzkill moment this weekend! From what I’m seeing online, Swae Lee was cut short during his set – before he even got to perform some of his biggest hits like “This Could Be Us” and “Black Beatles”! Apparently, he went a little over his allotted time, and they had to wrap things up. Lots of fans – and Swae himself, it seems – weren’t thrilled about it, and the internet is definitely talking about it. It’s always a bummer when a performance gets cut short, especially when everyone’s excited to hear those signature songs!
Another responded by writing, ‘they just cut swae lee off bfore he got to sing black beatles….’
Someone commented that Coachella stopped Swae Lee’s performance before he finished playing “Hopeless Romantic” and “Black Beatles.” They were upset and demanded refunds, expressing their disappointment with an expletive-filled comment about the situation.
The Coachella music festival will return to Indio, California in 2026 for two weekends of music and arts.
Sabrina Carpenter, Justin Bieber, and Karol G are headlining the highly anticipated event.
The lineup also features a diverse group of artists from different genres and eras, like the electronic music group Anyma, rapper Young Thug, the band Turnstile, David Byrne, FKA twigs, Addison Rae, and Ethel Cain.
Music legends Iggy Pop, Moby, and Devo joined the already full lineup, and Radiohead performed a special show called ‘The Bunker Debut of Kid A Mnesia,’ hinting at a unique experience.
The xx and The Strokes are both making a comeback to the festival.
This year’s booking is a first for Justin Bieber at the festival; while he’s made unannounced appearances during performances by artists like Ariana Grande, Daniel Caesar, Chance the Rapper, Tems, and Wizkid, he’s never been an official headliner or billed performer before.
Justin Bieber most recently performed at the 2026 Grammys on February 1st. Before that, his last complete concert was a private show at the Roxy Theatre on March 29th.
The singer, known for his hit song ‘Baby,’ hasn’t toured extensively since he had to cancel his 49-city ‘Justice World Tour’ due to a health issue called Ramsay Hunt syndrome.
The Grammy-winning artist received over $10 million to perform at the Southern California festival, making them the highest-paid performer in the festival’s history, exceeding the earnings of stars like Beyoncé and Lady Gaga.
According to a source at Rolling Stone, Justin Bieber negotiated his payment for performing at Coachella himself, directly with the festival’s organizers at Goldenvoice, and didn’t use an agent to handle the deal.
A source close to the singer, who has a one-year-old son named Jack with his wife, model Hailey Bieber, said this was a remarkable and independent achievement for a major artist.
With his headlining performance at Coachella and the popularity of his recent work, it’s obvious Justin is entering a really promising new phase of his career – one where he’s taking complete control.
Carpenter performed at Coachella earlier this year, with her boyfriend at the time, Barry Keoghan, watching from the VIP area. She recently told Perfect magazine that her upcoming Coachella set will be her biggest and most elaborate show yet.
Karol G is finally back on the Coachella stage! She performed at the festival in 2022, but this time she’ll be showcasing music from her latest album, Tropicoqueta, which came out in June.
The milestone makes her the first Latina artist to lead the iconic Coachella stage.
Prices for weekend passes at this year’s event ran from $549 to $1,299.
The headliners for last year’s Coachella were Lana Del Rey, Tyler, the Creator, and Doja Cat.
