Robert De Niro’s Son Stuns NYC With Pink Hair and Heels in Rare Appearance
On an unusual occasion in New York City on Tuesday, Aaron Kendrick, the son of the renowned Robert De Niro, unveiled a fresh appearance alongside his illustrious father.
In my role as a lifestyle expert, I recently found myself walking alongside the iconic Taxi Driver star, now 81, towards the Greenwich Hotel. Yet, it was evident that the man beside me was far from the image I’ve come to know through previous public appearances; the transformation displayed by this 30-year-old individual was nothing short of striking.
Despite earlier appearances in which he was seen with his natural hair and suits, as well as at events alongside his father and in family photos, Aaron is currently sporting a long, vibrant pink hairstyle.
Beyond donning colorful cotton-candy dreadlocks beneath a black beanie, I also noticed the son of the esteemed Oscar winner sporting a unique pair of combat boots with a heightened platform, adding a touch of individuality to his style.
Aaron, seemingly absent from the public’s social media sphere, tends to avoid the spotlight, leaving us with limited information about his personal life.
His mother is actress Toukie Smith, best known for her role as Eva Rawley on the NBC sitcom 227.
Smith, who is 72 years old, and De Niro welcomed their twins through the process of in vitro fertilization, and these babies were born with the assistance of a surrogate mother.
The former couple began dating after his divorce from Diahnne Abbott.
They were together for approximately eight years, between 1988 to 1996.
De Niro has previously spoken candidly about raising bi-racial children.
On an episode of The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon in 2020, the legendary figure openly discussed his experiences in bringing up his multi-racial kids.
In simpler terms, Robert De Niro acknowledged that his children are of mixed race (half black) and he sometimes overlooks certain aspects because he doesn’t always reflect on them personally.
He went on to explain: ‘When people advise their children to “Keep your hands visible when stopped by police, keep them on the steering wheel, avoid making any sudden movements, don’t reach for anything below, and refrain from doing anything suspicious,” it becomes clear why they do so.’
He expressed concern about the discussion on police brutality in light of George Floyd’s death, stating emphatically, “That’s unacceptable. It needs to be addressed.” He further clarified, “Anyone who resorts to violence against another person without just cause – self-defense or protecting others – is not fit for that profession.

That same year, De Niro reflected on whether his kids feel pressured to follow in his footsteps.
He shared with People, “I encourage my children by saying, ‘Feel free to pursue whatever path you choose – whether acting or anything else, as long as it brings you joy.’ However, I would caution them against underestimating themselves. My advice is simple: strive for a bit more than what you think you want, and never let fear hold you back.
He continued: ‘It’s important for them to find their own lane.’
Although Aaron has not pursued fame, his twin brother, Julian is a working actor.
2016 was a game-changer for me, the year I made my grand debut on the silver screen alongside an illustrious ensemble in “In Dubious Battle.” Sharing the limelight with none other than Selena Gomez and James Franco was nothing short of surreal!

But his TV debut took a little longer to come to fruition.
Julian took up the role as a young Barack Obama in Showtime’s drama series The First Lady in 2022.
This individual, aged thirty, not only excels in computer science and mathematics at New York University, but is also skilled in the art of effective writing.
In 2018, he even had a study – titled ‘What The World Wants’ – published in The Washington Post.
The paper delved into the findings from a comprehensive Twitter study that the author, along with his professor and a fellow student, undertook. Their aim was to identify the top desires or preferences among people during the year 2018.
