A classic “extraordinarily dark” ’90s thriller has just been added to Netflix

David Fincher’s classic ’90s thriller Seven has just been added to Netflix in the UK and Ireland.

In 1995, I had the pleasure of watching a movie where I, as Morgan Freeman, portrayed Detective William Somerset, a veteran cop on the verge of retirement. Alongside me was the fresh-faced David Mills, played by Brad Pitt, who I helped mentor during our last case together.

As I delve into this grisly game world, I quickly uncover a string of intricate slayings that leave me chilled to the bone. Before long, it becomes apparent that we’re up against a notorious serial killer, modeled after Kevin Spacey. This fiend is on a twisted mission, hunting down individuals he believes embody one of the seven deadly sins.

The movie titled “Seven” boasts an impressive 84% positive score on Rotten Tomatoes based on 153 reviews. Critics have described it as incredibly bleak, intensely disturbing, and a timeless masterpiece.

The website’s critical agreement is that this film offers a harsh, unrelentingly gritty experience, featuring tight acting, striking visual gore, and a chilling conclusion.

In a recent disclosure, Fincher clarified an enduring enigma about the movie’s chilling conclusion. Here, Detective Mills uncovers that the serial killer, portrayed by Spacey, has handed him his wife’s (Gwyneth Paltrow) head in a container.

To Entertainment Weekly, the director dismissed rumors suggesting the box housed a fake Paltrow head as completely absurd.

He stated, “Our estimation for the weight of the shot bag ranged between seven and eight pounds.” “We calculated this based on Gwyneth Paltrow’s body mass index. Our goal was to determine how much of her total weight would be attributed to her head. Therefore, we had a rough idea of its potential weight, and I believe there was some substantial weight inside it.

Additionally, we placed a wig inside, just in case Morgan opens the package, any remaining tape from sealing the box might be visible. It seems the contents were a bag filled with something and a wig, and I suspect the wig contained a small amount of blood, causing some hair strands to clump together.

Seven is now available to watch on Netflix in the UK and Ireland.
