Watch Chris Evans and Pedro Pascal’s new love-triangle movie trailer
Here is a trailer released for the romantic comedy, “Materialists“, featuring Chris Evans, Dakota Johnson, and Pedro Pascal, where they become entangled in a love triangle.
Under the direction and writing of Celine Song, who previously directed “Past Lives,” the A24 movie is set to premiere in US cinemas on June 13.
In a more casual and straightforward rewording, we could say: Johnson is cast as Lucy, a high-end NYC love broker who fetches romantic partners for her wealthy clientele at a hefty fee.
However, her thriving enterprise faces chaos as she becomes entangled in a complicated romantic predicament involving a wealthy individual named Pascal and an impoverished actor/server named Evans.
The trailer depicts Lucy, often referred to as the perpetual singleton, enjoying a luxurious lifestyle in New York City, after having successfully paired up nine couples who are now happily married.
At a wedding celebration, she encounters Randy, a charismatic man, who takes a seat next to her and offers her a beverage by inquiring about her preference.
At the wedding, it’s John, Lucy’s former partner, who promptly brings over a Coke and a beer when Lucy requests them.
Introduce some passionate moments between Lucy and Randy, a man who resides in an opulent $12 million residence, frequently treats Lucy to expensive bouquets of flowers, and dines her at high-end eateries.
In simpler terms, John, who resides with housemates, shares with Lucy that whenever he looks at her, he perceives ‘lines on your face and kids who resemble you.’
Who will be the one to finally steal Lucy’s heart?
Last year, Johnson starred in the critically panned Madame Web.
In an interview with Digital Spy last year, Johnson shared that she had never envisioned herself in a superhero film until she went through the Madame Web script.
As a fan, I’d never envisioned myself starring in a superhero film, but the concept of a superheroine whose strength lies in her brilliant mind and intellect truly resonates with me. I find it incredibly empowering.
Cinema-goers in the United States can catch Materialists starting from June 13th, while a release date for the UK is still to be announced.
