Married At First Sight’s Emma Barnes is rushed to hospital after horrific bike accident leaves her with two leg fractures and facing eight weeks in a brace

Emma Barnes, who appeared on Married At First Sight, was taken to the hospital after a serious bicycle crash.

Oh my gosh, you guys, I’m absolutely devastated! My absolute favourite from the latest season of the show – she’s only 32! – just posted on Instagram, and she’s seriously hurt. Apparently, she fractured both legs and tore her MCL! I’m so worried about her recovery. She said she’ll have to wear a brace for eight weeks! I’m sending her all my love and hoping she feels better soon. It’s just awful!

She shared photos of herself recovering – one from an ambulance bed and another of her leg in a cast – and updated fans that she’d suffered two fractures to her leg and a torn MCL. She’ll need to wear a brace for eight weeks.

She strongly emphasized the importance of wearing helmets, sharing a personal story about how hers saved her life. She jokingly said she wouldn’t want anyone to tease her for arriving at the pub on a scooter or bike while proudly carrying her helmet, because it really did make a difference. She’s very passionate about helmet safety.

This follows Emma and her husband, Caspar Todd—who she met on a dating show—deciding to end their brief marriage in October 2024.

Emma broke down crying at the commitment ceremony and told the experts she wanted to quit the experiment.

Caspar, age 35, also decided to leave the show, and he and Emma both felt they weren’t compatible, leading to frequent disagreements.

Honestly, a few weeks ago, my friend Emma sat down with her husband, Caspar, and shared something really tough. She admitted she wasn’t sure if her feelings were strong enough to continue their marriage. It was a vulnerable moment, and she wanted to be honest with him about where she was at emotionally.

It caused Caspar to feel a lot of resentment towards Emma and started to get nasty back.

Casper was talking to Emma about being emotionally open, and she reacted by telling him she wasn’t sure how she felt about him.

‘For me it was just like what are we working for? I felt I didn’t deserve that comment.

I was hoping to have left last week, but I needed to finish what I started. Honestly, I began to question why I was staying if my contributions weren’t valued.

Emma explained they were going around in circles and she didn’t want to reveal all the things they’d done to upset each other that week.

Fans felt emotional as the couple discussed their heartbreaking, but friendly, split with relationship experts Paul Brunson, Mel Schilling, and Charlene Douglas.

Casper said: ‘I’m not as positive as Emma, I don’t have that natural “things are going to be okay”.

‘We feel sad because we came here for love. Emma is fantastic in a lot of ways.

I’m looking for someone who’s as emotionally open as I am, someone who would rely on me more than Emma does. She’s incredibly self-sufficient and doesn’t need a lot of support.

Melanie Schilling asked: ‘Emma can you give Casper what he needs?’

Emma expressed feeling overwhelmed and on the verge of tears. She realized she needs to open up more emotionally and feels capable of doing so when she’s in supportive environments, but she needs to feel loved herself before she can truly love others.

Casper explained that while he thinks Emma is a wonderful person, he doesn’t feel a romantic connection with her. He ended their relationship by sending a message saying, “leave.”

I’ve been doing a lot of thinking lately, and I’ve given everything I have to our relationship. Because of that, I feel now is the right moment. Emma then wrote the word ‘leave’.

She believes everyone deserves to be treated with royalty in a relationship – like a king or queen.

We were optimistic coming in, but we just had trouble finding a solution that worked for everyone,” Casper explained.

The gardener confessed that he wasn’t sexually attracted to his wife, Emma, when he first saw her in a bikini on their honeymoon in Jamaica. He explained that he’s generally attracted to smaller-framed women, and Emma is a size 14.

Speaking with Emma’s best friends he said: ‘I’ve never fancied curvier women.’ 

‘Oh no, no, no, no,’ Emma’s pal exclaimed in response.

“That was a terrible thing to say,” his wife said, and tears started to fall.

“That was unkind,” her friend said, then turned to Emma and advised, “I don’t think he’s a good match for you right now.”
