New British crime thriller with Broadchurch and Black Doves star shares first look
ITV’s new British crime drama Code of Silence has released a first look.
Created by Hijack’s Catherine Moulton, the six-part series stars Strictly Come Dancing winner Rose Ayling-Ellis in the lead role of Alison Woods, a deaf catering worker who is hired by police for her lip-reading skills in a criminal investigation.
Other cast members include Broadchurch and Black Doves star Andrew Buchan, Ghosts actor Charlotte Ritchie, Vampire Academy‘s Kieron Moore, The Witcher’s Nathan Armarkwei Laryea, Doc Martin’s Joe Absolom and Emmerdale’s Andrew Scarborough.
ITV has now released some first-look images from the upcoming series ahead of its release on May 18, with the new stills featuring Ayling-Ellis in action as Alison, Buchan as DI James Marsh, Ritchie as DS Ashleigh Francis and Moore as gang member Liam Barlow.
Code of Silence centres on Alison, a “smart and determined” deaf woman who has spent “years working in a police canteen and secretly observing conversations”.
Alison’s life takes an unexpected turn when her lip-reading skills catch the attention of DS Ashleigh Francis and DI James Marsh, who recruit her for a covert operation in which she must surveil a dangerous gang who are plotting plot a high-stakes heist.
As Alison unravels their coded messages, she proves essential to the investigation; however, as she delves further, her part in it grows increasingly dangerous.
“When she crosses paths with Liam Barlow, the gang’s newest recruit, an unexpected and dangerous bond forms between them, one that threatens to expose her true identity while pulling her further into the criminal world.
“Juggling the pressures of undercover work, family struggles, and the fallout of a long-term relationship, Alison must navigate a world of deception and danger, testing her resilience and ultimately reshaping her life forever.”
Code of Silence will premiere on ITV1, STV, ITV and STV Player on May 18.
