Mariah Carey’s Hilarious Side-Eye Reaction to Tribute Performance Goes Viral!

Mariah Carey’s savage reaction to a music tribute ahead of her accepting the Icon Award at the 2025 iHeartRadio Music Awards on Monday has gone viral on social media.

The Obsessed singer, 55 – who recently sparked concern during a performance on stage – had the chance to watch both Muni Long and Tori Kelly belt out a few of her hit tracks from over the years during the ceremony in L.A. 

However, at one point as Long sang We Belong Together – the camera briefly cut to Carey in a now-viral clip on X as she slowly turned her head away from the stage and gave a side-eye glance to her right.

Next to the singer, it was whispered that Anderson .Paak was her boyfriend, evidently enjoying himself by dancing along to the music.

A different clip from the same event captured Mariah looking quite pleased, with a wide smile, but as the show went on, that smile gradually disappeared.

Fans quickly shared their own thoughts on X, with one penning, ‘Mariah Carey is not feeling these performances and is not hiding that fact. lol #iHeartAwards 2025 #MariahCarey.’

The first person said, “I have lots of questions…” The second person replied, “It’s going to turn into a new internet sensation! Trust me on this one.

A social media user typed, ‘Mariah watching ppl butchering her songs lol,’ and a fan commented, ‘Mariah Carey reaction to Muni Long singing her song just SENT ME OMFG.’ 

‘The way Mariah Carey can’t help but show her disinterest on her face but I get it I’m the same my face tells everything. She cracks me up. Personally I thought Tori killed it though!’ another penned. 

One added, ‘Now mfs mad at Mariah.. Man Mariah Carey a real vocalist bruh. Of course she don’t want yall performing her song.’

‘Mariah Carey high or drunk during this awards show. LMFAOOOOOO,’ and another questioned, ‘Okay who’s got the tea on what’s up with Mariah Carey cuz….?’

An X user wrote, ‘She in her head wondering why they didn’t get ariana to do the tribute,’ and another shared, ‘Now why would they make anybody sing a Mariah Carey song in front of Mariah Carey.’ 

One exclaimed, ‘Oh my goodness, Mariah Carey can’t conceal her facial expressions at all, oh my goodness!’ Another wrote, ‘Mariah seemed offended… she glanced around as if to say, “Y’all!”‘

Following the moving musical homage by Long and Kelly, the esteemed host LL Cool J handed over the award to the singer who gracefully walked up in a sleek, black dress featuring voluminous fabric on her shoulders.

While accepting the honor, Carey kicked off her speech by humorously asking the audience, ‘Is the lighting okay, because I don’t like bad lighting.’

After that, she proudly displayed her outfit and excitedly shared that having her voice on the radio had long been a cherished aspiration of hers.

To this day, I’m always thrilled when I catch one of my tunes on the radio. It always feels like a special moment.

Mariah gave a special shout out to her fans and then also paid a loving tribute to her late mother Patricia Carey who passed away last year in August. 

‘On this Saint Patrick’s Day, I want to honor my mother Patricia Carey for giving me the gift of music,’ the star emotionally concluded. 

Later on, Carey flaunted her award and accentuated her stylish appearance at the grand event by posing with it on the red carpet. Her hair, styled to one side, cascaded down past her shoulders in beautiful curls.

She accessorized the gown with silver earrings as well as an eye-catching necklace with a large diamond pendant on the front. 

The renowned fantasy artist was among the high-profile attendees gracing the red carpet at the gathering, alongside stars like Kelsea Ballerini.

Ballerini – who announced Kenny Chesney ahead of his performance – showed off her sculpted midriff wearing a sparkling, dark gray bandeau top and matching skirt that flowed down towards the ground. 

I slid into a sleek pair of shimmering silver closed-toe shoes, matching perfectly with my ensemble’s theme.

Kelsea had her golden hair styled neatly in a middle part, cascading gracefully beyond her shoulders as soft, wavy strands.

The songstress opted for minimal accessories to allow her dress to be the main focal point, and added a pair of silver earrings and a few flashy rings on each of her hands. 

Ballerini’s makeup had a timeless touch, featuring an application of mascara and a smudge of smoky eye-shadow around her peepers.

A rosy glow and shading were applied to highlight her cheekbones, and a transparent lip gloss with a neutral shade was used to complete the look.

Kelsea flashed a cheerful smile as she posed for a brief photo session upon arriving to the venue ahead of the main awards ceremony. 

The woman, who is in a relationship with Chase Stokes from Outer Banks, has been keeping occupied with her recent tour that accompanies her album “Patterns,” released last October.

The tour kicked off earlier this year in January and is slated to run through April – with the final concert taking place in Toronto on April 13. 

Last month in February, some of her shows were postponed due to an illness and her March 28 concert in Las Vegas was also cancelled – although a reason was not given. 

She is set to perform on stage this week on March 18 in Sacramento, followed by dates this weekend in Los Angeles and San Diego. 

During a chat with People at the iHeartRadio Music Awards on Monday, the artist expressed excitement about her latest tour, calling it a ‘wish-come-true.’

‘To finally be able to be here and and play those stages in the rooms that I’ve opened for all my favorite artists in, and seen my favorite artists in, it’s really full circle,’ Kelsea said. 

‘I make it a point that I have a show for everyone, whether you want to be there for escapism and [are looking to] disassociate from whatever you have going on in your life, or you want to feel connected to yourself and your feelings.’ 

Madison Beer turned heads at the event in a tight, shimmering black minidress that accentuated her long, slender legs.

In my latest fashion find, I noticed an intriguing detail – a tasteful slit located right up top, just above where the piece gracefully ended, stopping merely inches shy of my knee level. This design feature added a touch of sophistication and style to the overall ensemble.

As a lifestyle expert, I donned a sophisticated pair of closed-toe, sleek black pumps and let my long, luscious brown tresses fall gracefully beyond my shoulders in soft, wavy curls, much like “The Hurts Like Hell” singer’s style.

She complemented her red carpet outfit with delicate silver earrings and multiple rings on both hands to add a touch of sparkle and elegance to her ensemble.

Madison’s eyes were accentuated with layers of mascara and her cheeks were dusted with pink blush, while she completed her look by applying a nude-toned matte lipstick.

Ashanti donned a long-black dress with a fitted, leather skirt and a small opening in the front. Her attire hugged her body tightly.

Apart from the catchy tunes she creates, this artist also donned a pair of open-toed shoes and tied her hair up in a neat ponytail.

The star further glammed up her ensemble with large, gold hooped earrings and chunky gold bracelets on each of her wrists. 

Ashanti was also joined by her husband Nelly – whom she tied the knot with in 2023 – and the couple paused for memorable snaps together. 

In the song “Hot in Herre,” the artist chose to wear a sleek set consisting of black leather pants, a Prada jacket of the same hue, and an understated black t-shirt. To complete his look, he added a flashy silver necklace with chains, fashionable black sunglasses, and a touch of bling.

Gracie Abrams was chic in a short-sleeved, fitted gray dress that fell down towards the ground and was paired with sheer, black gloves. 

The singer’s hair was divided down the middle and pulled up into a chignon, leaving soft curls to cascade around the sides of her face.

The Close To You hitmaker completed the look with a pair of dangly, sparkling silver earrings and a flashy ring on her right hand. 

Tori Spelling also walked the red carpet and made a statement wearing a flowy, light blue skirt with dazzling details and contained thick straps that wrapped around her shoulders. 

The Beverly Hills, 90210 alum wore a cropped, white tank top underneath and styled her blonde locks into two separate braids. 

She added blue butterfly embellishments into her hair and slipped into a pair of Converse sneakers for a casual flare to the ensemble. 

GloRilla turned heads in a form-fitting, black dress that had multiple cutouts on the front for a sultry flare. 

In the first person, I would say: The gown I was wearing had delicate lace trim around the bodice, while the skirt sparkled under the bright lights on the red carpet.

The Wanna Be performer carried a mini, sparkling gold purse that was in the shape of a money bag. 

Her golden hair was neatly combed to one side, cascading straight to reach her shoulder on the right.

Brandi Cyrus showcased a bright grin while striking a pose in a sleek black dress that reached below her knees and donned open-toed, black heels with delicate straps wrapping around them.

The star’s hair was parted in the middle, and cascaded down past her shoulders in light waves. 

Muni Long shone brilliantly in a stunning golden dress with a halter neckline that plunged deeply at the front and trailed into a brief train.

She put her hair up in a fashionable bun and let some loose strands fall on the left side near her face, giving it a stylish look.

The star accessorized the outfit with dangly earrings as well as a few rings on each of her hands for a flashy flare. 

Long won the award for R&B Song of the Year for Made For Me and cheerfully posed with her trophy on the red carpet. 

At the awards event, Jenny McCarthy turned heads in a see-through chainmail gown that showcased her captivating backless design. Her golden tresses were swept to one side, creating a wet-look hairstyle.

To match her red carpet attire, she put on some golden, open-toed sandals.

The actress chose not to wear any showy jewelry, instead letting her gown be the center of attention at the event.

McCarthy was accompanied by her husband Donnie Wahlberg – whom she tied the knot with in 2014. 

The New Kids On The Block singer donned a light blue suit as well as a dark brown dress shirt underneath. 

The Sixth Sense actor – who is also the brother of Mark Wahlberg – completed the look with brown leather shoes as well as stylish shades. 

The couple paused for a quick photo session on the red carpet, and at one point, they also shared a sweet kiss for the cameras. 

At the event, Gia Giudice donned a stylish strapless mini-dress in a deep navy shade, featuring a ruching detail on the skirt.

Ariana Madix drew attention in a striking gold mini dress, featuring fabric extending close to her collarbone.

The ensemble featured a belt looping around her midriff, while the television personality donned glittery, open-heeled sandals in gold.

I, an ardent fan, found myself in the presence of my idol, joined by her partner, Daniel Wai. Dressed to impress, he donned a striking green suit and a complementary dark green shirt beneath it. The sight of them together was truly captivating.

Amidst the joyous celebrations, my partner and I took a moment to steal a tender kiss, all the while capturing those precious moments in photographs together.

At the event, Nikki Glaser elegantly chose a sparkling silver gown with sheer fabric and complemented it with matching silver high heels.

The comedian had medium-parted, cascading blonde locks that fell gracefully beyond her shoulder length.

Jojo Siwa looked unrecognizable on the red carpet and sported a pair of light blue, baggy jeans that were covered with sparkling, silver embellishments as well as marching denim jacket.

Underneath, she also donned a pastel pink Versace bralette top and matching bottoms that peaked through the waist of her pants.

To complete her ensemble, the Karma singer put on a pair of eye-catching white sneakers with intricate details and a delicate peach accent.

On the hit reality show, Siwa cut off her platinum blonde hair and went dark brown, letting it cascade down her back to just below her shoulders.

The TV personality added shimmering, pink horns on top of her head that held up more locks that were placed around a circular headpiece.

While posing with the silver trophy, the singer donned shiny gold pants as well as a matching bralette top with a plunging neckline. 

Bad Bunny held his award for Latin Pop/Urban Song of the Year while sporting a pair of black pants as well as a black sweater and white shirt underneath. 

The Puerto-Rican rapper also donned a black glove that held a bouquet of pink roses. 

Nelly opted for casual comfort in cream-colored sweats on the red carpet while holding his Music Landmark Award. 

Billie Eilish appeared too, wearing a matching set with her brother Finneas that consisted of white pants and a black sweater paired with a blazer.

His brother looked sharp wearing a black suit, complemented by a patterned shirt beneath as the finishing detail.

Later in the evening, the Birds Of A Feather singer had an outfit change and posed with Gracie Abrams in a blue and white-striped shirt as well as blue jeans and a multi-colored jacket.
