Love Island Winner’s Girlfriend Faces Prison Over $2.6M Tax Row

David Sanclimenti has broken his silence following the news that his partner, Iris Au, may be incarcerated due to a $2.6 million tax dispute.

Iris, aged 35, faces up to three years in prison after admitting to a charge related to unpaid cryptocurrency taxes. However, David maintains that he has been aware of her predicament from the beginning.

The Love Island star, who won the series back in 2022 with Ekin-Su Culculoglu, went public with new flame Iris in January – and has shared his support her after her plea.

Iris is the ex-girlfriend of cryptocurrency fraudster Iza, dubbed ‘The Godfather’, who she was involved with before meeting Davide.

In a daring statement, he asserted that he took Iris away from Iza, expressing his opinion following the news that she might face imprisonment.

Davide acknowledged to TopMob that he was aware of Iris’s accusations from the beginning and promised to stand by her, adding that there might be additional aspects to the intriguing tale yet to unfold.

The celebrity asserted that Iris had not yet parted ways with ‘The Godfather’ at their encounter, and he allegedly took her from his presence.

He stated: ‘The Italian Stallion managed to win the heart of the girl despite the Godfather’s interference, all while the LAPD was involved in a high-speed pursuit… it feels like we’re watching a thrilling movie from Hollywood.’

‘The truth is that I knew about her situation from the start which is why I was protecting her.

Iris is truly remarkable, having faced challenges that many would find impossible to comprehend.

There are still many fascinating aspects of this tale unrevealed. I aim to stand beside her, offering the necessary help and empathy she deserves.

Iris, who is better known as EyeRize, is the founder and CEO of cryptocurrency trading marketplace VURG.com.

On Monday, it came to light that she has decided to admit her guilt in a federal criminal tax case, which means she’ll serve time in prison.

A statement reveals that she has agreed to plead guilty to the tax charge and agreed to pay a federal criminal tax charge for failing to report $2.6 million (£2,004,886) in crypto income.

She illegally gained this profit from criminal activities of her then boyfriend.

A report from the United States Attorney’s Office explained Au has agreed to plead guilty to the felony charge and is expected to make her initial appearance in United States District Court in downtown Los Angeles in the coming days.

According to Au’s plea agreement, from 2020 to 2024, Iza committed a series of crimes, including fraudulently obtaining access to advertising accounts and lines of credit provided by Facebook Inc. and Meta Platforms Inc. and selling access to those accounts. Iza obtained millions of dollars of unreported income as a result of these schemes.

Separately, Iza engaged active Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department (LASD) deputies to provide private security for him and caused the deputies, among other things, to obtain court-authorized search warrants and confidential law enforcement information targeting people with whom Iza had financial and personal disputes.

Under Iza’s guidance, Au established multiple shell companies and set up banking accounts in the names of these businesses.

She then used the illicit funds placed into those accounts to pay approximately $1 million to the deputies, mostly in cash, purchase or lease luxury real estate, cars, jewelry, and clothing, pay for recreational activity for Iza and herself valued at nearly $10 million, and acquire approximately $16 million in cryptocurrency for Iza.

In her plea deal, Acknowledged that she moved over $2.6 million from multiple accounts into her personal bank accounts between 2020 and 2023. This income was intentionally not declared in her annual federal tax filings with the IRS.

After pleading guilty, Au will face up to three years in federal prison.

On January 30, Iza appeared before a federal judge and pleaded guilty to conspiracy against rights, wire fraud, and tax evasion.

His sentencing hearing is scheduled for June 16, at which time he will face up to 35 years in federal prison. Iza has been in federal custody since September 2024.

IRS Criminal Investigation and the FBI are investigating this matter.
