A classic 2005 period drama has just been added to Netflix
Netflix has recently included the 2005 adaptation of “Pride & Prejudice,” a timeless, period drama.
Following on from the success of Bridget Jones, studio Working Title aimed this big-screen Jane Austen adaptation at a mainstream and younger audience.
The movie has a well-known cast, with Keira Knightley from Pirates of the Caribbean and Matthew Macfadyen from Succession and Deadpool & Wolverine playing Elizabeth Bennet and Mr. Darcy respectively.
The Hunger Games‘ Donald Sutherland and Gone Girl‘s Rosamund Pike also star, alongside Tom Hollander, Carey Mulligan, Penelope Wilton, Pip Torrens, and James Bond’s Judi Dench.
Upon its release, Pride & Prejudice topped the UK box office for three weeks, and reportedly made over $120 million from a sub-$30 million budget.
Fans and critics alike find the movie highly enjoyable, with a 87% positive rating from professional reviews on Rotten Tomatoes and an impressive 89% approval from its audience.
As a gamer, looking back on last year’s movie production, I’ll be honest – there were times when I genuinely enjoyed myself, but deep down, I can’t help but feel that I didn’t fully embrace the experience. If I could go back, I would want to let loose and have less concerns about the project.
“I felt a bit miscast, like, ‘I’m not dishy enough’. But it worked out.”
It was also reported last year that Netflix was pursuing a new version of Pride & Prejudice, and had tapped Everything I Know About Love author Dolly Alderton to write the script for it.
Additionally, some new offerings on the streaming service are “The Electric State” starring Millie Bobby Brown, as well as the critically praised series “Adolescence” featuring Stephen Graham.
Pride & Prejudice is currently available for Netflix subscribers to stream, or can be purchased physically and digitally.
