TV Star Kirsty Gallacher Hints at Marriage with Younger Rugby Beau Darren Clayton!

Kirsty Gallacher discusses her possible wedding plans with her partner, Darren Clayton.

The TV star, 48, and ex rugby player, 38, have been together for around a year and five months after meeting through their two mutual friends – Gabby and Kenny Logan.

From the moment they met at that charity gathering, it’s been clear that Kirsty has developed quite a crush on Darren, who is both a successful businessman and an accomplished athlete.

In October, they seemed like an ideal pair, celebrating their first year together by enjoying a meal of champagne and oysters at Langan’s Brasserie in the heart of London.

In the days ahead, Kirsty acknowledges that she had not anticipated remarrying after her breakup with Paul Sampson, but there’s a possibility she might walk down the aisle again.

The former GB News host told The Sun: ‘We do talk about getting married. Funnily, he’s much more into the idea of marriage than I am. I’m very much like: ‘Do we need that?’

‘For him, it’s very important to actually have that union and [be able to] say it. And I said: ‘Well, we can say it. Do we have to do the marriage?’

She continued: ‘I think an engagement is wonderfully romantic and that would do for me. That would be enough, because it’s the whole: ‘I want to be with you forever’.

Nevertheless, Kirsty explicitly stated that she doesn’t object to the concept and confessed that should Darren desire to marry, she would agree.

Sharing an insight into their one year anniverdary evening, Kirsty revealed the couple  tucked into the restaurant’s £33 fish pie and a £17 cheese board for two.

Following their toast with sparkling drinks, they moved on to drinking red wine, capturing their evening adventure through various social media posts.

Kirsty looked chic in a black roll neck jumper and wore her dark hair slicked back into a ponytail, while adding a glamorous coat of make-up.

Simultaneously, fashionable Darren matched his girlfriend’s appearance in a black sweater and jeans during the special event.

Alongside the photos, Kirsty wrote: ‘Celebrating a wonderful year together thank you @clayton.darren for all you do for me & the boys. We love you.

‘And thank you for having us Langans Brasserie always a delightful evening and an exquisite, we can’t wait to visit again!’

While they were together, the couple spent some quality time in Devon, where Darren’s family resides, indulging in a delightful romantic retreat.

Darren was a flanker for Surrey club Esher and currently runs sports events group Zeus with former England captain Chris Robshaw, 38.

Kirsty is a mom to two sons – Oscar, aged 18, and Jude, aged 14. She has these boys with her ex-partner Paul Sampson, who is 47 years old.

In 2015, following a 15-year relationship, the smooth-voiced radio personality (who happens to be the daughter of renowned Scottish golfer Bernard Gallacher) parted ways with her ex-rugby player partner.

Kirsty has previously been romantically linked with boxing champion Johnny Nelson, 58, Laurence Fox, 46, and Paddy McGuinness, 51.

The star previously admitted that she found her divorce ‘devastating’ and revealed that she was ‘grieving and mourning’ the loss of her marriage.

The turmoil of the split led to a deep depression and her physical collapse at Sky Sports in 2016.

Kirsty disclosed that during the months leading up to that point, she found it challenging to balance her broadcasting tasks, her dance training (as she was competing on Strictly Come Dancing in autumn 2015), and being a mother to her two sons.

The speaker discussed her relationship with her partner, Darren, revealing that their connection deepened after they discovered they were both single parents. They found common ground in this shared experience and grew closer as a result.

Kirsty revealed she is ‘really happy’ with her boyfriend and revealed he often looks after her when she works too much.

She shared with The Sun, “We’re overjoyed! We share a common background – being single parents – and we both enjoy golfing.

‘He looks after me and tells me to have time off as I can be a workaholic.’

‘I’m usually running around like mad with the children at their sport, but my boyfriend encourages me to take a day off as I work on Saturdays doing my radio show’, she added.

The duo met in Edinburgh last year for a fundraising event in memory of rugby player Doddie Weir – who passed away in 2022 from Motor Neurone Disease.

Kirsty revealed that her two sons ‘love him’ and the pair had been together for nearly a year, with Darren also a father to a daughter from a previous relationship.

Kirsty and Paul met in 1999 shortly after he had won his first cap for England and Kirsty was made the new face of Sky Sports News.

They got married in 2010 at a £50,000 wedding ceremony held in Spain. However, their relationship started to falter the year after Paul retired from rugby due to an injury. In simpler terms, they tied the knot in 2010 at a lavish £50,000 wedding in Spain, but their marriage began to face difficulties a year later when Paul had to retire from rugby because of an injury.

After experiencing deep sadness, he struggled to find purpose, and this struggle was intensified due to his ongoing difficulties coping with the loss of his father back in 2004.

Kirsty then called an end to their four-year marriage in 2014.
