Max George Returns to Stage After Heart Surgeries: The Wanted 2.0 Tour Dates Revealed!
Max George shared some big career news on Friday, as he continues to recover from his multiple heart surgeries.
36-year-old singer from The Wanted underwent a pacemaker implantation following a hospital visit in December, due to heart-related problems that he encountered around the same time.
After finding that the pacemaker wires were implanted too far, he subsequently required another surgery.
Despite his recent health woes, Max is getting ready to return to work as The Wanted 2.0, which is made up of himself and his bandmate Siva Kaneswaran, have released new show dates as they prepare to hit the road again.
On their band’s main Instagram page, they playfully commented: “We’re just getting started… TW 2.0,” accompanied by a lengthy schedule of Spring and Summer concerts.
The duo will be playing at a variety of locations, from food festivals to Birmingham Pride and even the Hair and Beauty Awards.

As a devoted fan, I was overjoyed to hear that our upcoming concert at Manchester Cathedral, which we had to cancel in February due to Max’s health issues related to his heart, is now back on schedule!
They were set to perform on February 27 but were forced to cancel in the wake of Max’s second heart operation.
We have to reschedule the event due to some health concerns. We will keep you updated with the new date as soon as possible.
Max himself confirmed the news in a video he posted on The Wanted 2.0’s Instagram account, expressing his disappointment by saying he was ‘disappointed’.
He mentioned that his recent heart operation (the second one) has slightly delayed his recovery process. Regrettably, he won’t be fully recovered by the scheduled time. Certainly, he is very disappointed about it.
‘Siva and I are currently deciding when we’ll do something, but I’m confident that it will happen. We just need to choose a date in the coming days.’
Accompanying the video, he shared this message: ‘I’m disappointed to say that our concert in Manchester on February 27th has been delayed. I can hardly wait to recover and get back on stage again! Lots of love to you all.’
In December, Max was hospitalized due to heart problems and received a pacemaker. However, just weeks later, he had to undergo surgery again because of some physical symptoms he experienced.
On Monday, the singer posted a picture on Instagram from the operating room, followed by another image showcasing his healing scar upon returning home from the hospital.

He shared that the medical team allowed him to hear his beloved band Oasis while the operation was ongoing. However, he acknowledged that the healing process would be extensive since his heart’s inflammation might take several months to resolve.
About three weeks ago, I found myself returning to the hospital due to some chest-related health issues. It was discovered that one of the electrodes was implanted deeper than needed within my heart.
‘The second surgery took about 2 hours. Luckily, it was a success and they kindly let me listen to Oasis the whole time! It’s been a setback, but it’s just one of those things.’
He added: ‘I’ve encountered some issues over the past couple of months, but I’m undergoing numerous checks to ensure everything is running smoothly.’
‘It can take a few weeks / months for the inflammation of my heart to subside (myocarditis) but I’m sure I’ll be back on top form in no time!’
Before adding: ‘Thanks everyone for all your lovely messages and support through what’s been a pretty rough time. Means a lot. Max.’
It comes after Max opened up about his fears for the new surgery after doctors warned that the procedure could cause a ‘dangerous bleed’ on his heart.
In conversation with The Sun on Sunday, he shared: ‘I believed I was progressing towards recovery, but when I learned that a second operation was necessary, I felt apprehensive because extracting pacemaker wires from the heart wall could potentially lead to bleeding within the heart. However, I had no alternative; I had to undergo the procedure.’
The singer went on to detail how things didn’t feel right after having his pacemaker fitted, with Max noting how his discomfort continued getting worse as time went by.

He said: ‘I was trying to get back to good health but was still having a flickering sensation for weeks after I had my pacemaker fitted and it was gradually getting worse and worse. When my heart rate went up, it was causing a shock in my heart which was making me jump all the time. My chest was shaking.’
The Glad You Came hitmaker then went on to describe how he felt ‘really nervous’ the night before the operation and couldn’t sleep as he thought about the complications that could arise.
With the support of his girlfriend Maisie Smith, 23, and mum Babs, Max later underwent the procedure, which he was conscious but heavily sedated for.
During the procedure, he found solace in listening to Oasis, as the music assisted him in escaping to a different realm, away from his concerns about the surgery and the fear of excessive bleeding.
As I watched with bated breath, the operation went smoothly and I was overjoyed to see it declared a success. However, my heart sank when the medics found enlarged lymph nodes in Max’s lungs that demanded immediate attention. As an ardent fan, this news hit me like a ton of bricks. I couldn’t help but feel a sense of dread, knowing that our hero was far from out of the woods yet.
Yet, it was pointed out to him that undergoing a lung biopsy might lead to the loss of his voice, potentially preventing him from ever singing again.
Max explained: ‘The doctor did warn me there is a small chance that I could lose my voice. That was pretty worrying, but I decided I needed to take the risk. The biopsy was pretty gnarly, it’s a camera with prongs on the end that goes down your throat. It was painful. The recovery was tough, I had chest pain and was coughing up blood for five days.’
Thankfully, Max eventually received a clean bill of health and is presently concentrating on regaining his fitness, having been at his unfit lowest due to the health problems he faced.
The performer has been enjoying daily dog walks and credits his actress girlfriend for keeping him on track, noting she’s a ‘great nurse’.
