Lewis Hamilton’s Ferrari Debut: Stylish and Contemplative Ahead of Big Race
On the day before the Formula 1 Grand Prix in Melbourne, Australia, Lewis Hamilton strolled through the paddock with an air of casual elegance, preparing for his highly-anticipated Ferrari race debut.
40-year-old World Champion from Britain was dressed in a crisp, checked red and white shirt with a structured design, accompanied by faded blue denim pants.
Or, more casually:
The British world champ, 40, wore a neat red-and-white checkered shirt and some faded blue jeans.
To complete his stylish outfit, he chose thick, square-toed brown boots and donned gold-rimmed sunglasses to protect his eyes.
Before his much-awaited race later on, the Formula One champion showed intense focus and concentration.
In his initial race with the scarlet Ferrari following his annual salary of £50 million transfer from Mercedes, the seven-time world champion positioned himself eighth on the starting grid.
In simpler terms, Lewis found himself over 2 tenths (0.2 seconds) behind his teammate Charles Leclerc, who managed to secure a starting position of seventh on the grid. On the other hand, McLaren had an impressive performance at the front, with Lando Norris claiming pole position and Oscar Piastri joining him in second place on the grid.

Regarding the race, he commented: “I’ve never driven this car in the rain before, and I’m unsure where the wet mode control is. I don’t know exactly which buttons I need to press for that part, so it will be a novel experience. We are utilizing Brembo brakes, which I haven’t used since my younger days.
‘What settings am I going to have to use with this car? It is all different.
In a scenario where you finish eighth, you’d wish for conditions to be wet, but for my part, I have three laps to familiarize myself with the car in the rain, followed by going out to compete.
I’ve always taken pleasure in rainy conditions, having grown up in the UK where it felt like home. However, for the first time, being in the rain will put me in an unfamiliar and challenging situation. It’s going to be a jolt when I step out there. I’ll be learning as I go along and giving it my all.
Following the reproduction of a scene from the film “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off,” involving his cherished Ferrari, came a moment.
For the upcoming 2025 racing season, the Formula One driver who switched from Mercedes to Ferrari portrays a garage worker in a thrilling joyride scene, driving a Ferrari careening through the bustling streets of Chicago.
1986’s comedy showcases Hamilton’s most cherished automobile – the Ferrari 250 GT California Spyder.
Lewis, employing his film production company, Dawn Apollo Films, prepped a video and posted it on Instagram prior to the commencement of the Australian Grand Prix, the opening race of the Formula 1 season.

In the caption he wrote: ‘No better way to start the season than by fulfilling another dream.
I’ve loved ‘Ferris Bueller’s Day Off’ ever since I was young, and now that I’m driving a Ferrari for the first time, it feels fitting to honor this classic film. Crafting such an iconic movie required innovative technology, careful production planning, and a touch of genius.
I also needed to secure the same car model… it’s been a long-held dream ever since watching that movie. Kudos to the renowned @edwardnortonofficial for joining me on this adventure. This is the passion and enthusiasm I plan to bring to the track this year. VAMOS!! (Spanish for “Go!”)
This production is proudly presented to you by Dawna Pollo Films and Large Eyes. We would like to extend our gratitude to Paramount Pictures and all those who contributed to its creation.
Lewis is extremely excited, almost disbelieving, prior to his debut Grand Prix with Ferrari following his contentious move away from competitors Mercedes at the close of the previous season.
At the PUMA x Ferrari 20 Years of Speed event, Hamilton expressed his feelings about joining Ferrari: “I’ve stepped into uncharted territory for me, and this wasn’t something I anticipated happening when I turned 40. Even now, it feels surreal, like I’m still in disbelief.
Next week, as I reach the race, I’ll kick off a Grand Prix, wearing red. Wow, that’s… I can hardly find the right words to express my excitement. But I’m trying to keep composed and collected. Without a doubt, showing up in red (at Melbourne) is going to be awesome!
Hamilton, who began his official tenure with Ferrari in January, acknowledged that the quick transition before the Australian Grand Prix was less than optimal, yet he expressed enthusiasm about returning to competitive racing once more.

Despite the lengthy feel of this winter, it seems to have flown by surprisingly quickly. However, I’m truly thankful that we managed to conduct thorough testing just last week.
It’s hard to believe the race is just a week away, so I’m already planning my trip to Australia starting from this coming Friday. That’s when it will truly feel real, as the weekend approaches. Before then, I’m already getting a bit of anticipation. In fact, I can hardly wait!
‘I feel we are as best prepared as we could be, given the short space of time that I have had.
Even though there are more things to discover, I can’t wait to dive in! I have a deep passion for racing. To put it simply, everything else pales in comparison. Racing is what truly ignites my spirit. Being back at Melbourne will bring back memories of my early Grand Prix experiences there.
Seven-time world champion also shared insights about his experience at Ferrari and the emotions he’s felt since joining them.
Working each day here feels extraordinary, as if I’m not actually working but rather enjoying an enjoyable experience. The desire to stay is strong, and leaving seems less appealing. Truly, it’s a unique and memorable environment.
Check out where we are right now – it’s filled with Puma and classic cars. Seeing Ferrari’s history up close and personal for the first time is truly amazing because of this.

The event served double duty as both a festivity and the unveiling of Ferrari’s racing kit slated for the 2025 season. Notably, Maria Valdes, as Puma Group’s Chief Product Officer, emphasized the historic influence of Ferrari on the design of their race suit.
Reflecting on our 2025 vision, I firmly believe it embodied an unparalleled fusion of groundbreaking innovation, raw power, and the timeless Ferrari heritage – a truly inspiring blend that set us apart.
This year seems exceptionally special to me too, not just due to marking two decades of our partnership, but also thanks to the exceptional driving talent within our Ferrari team.
Our primary goal is to prioritize the athlete’s needs at all times. We strive to provide the optimal fit and maximum comfort, while incorporating all of our innovative technologies, with the aim that they excel as the most successful team this year.
