Sabrina Carpenter electrifies Coachella Night 1 crowd with steamy headline set after starry lineup

Sabrina Carpenter thrilled the Coachella crowd Friday night with her first headlining performance at the festival.

The 26-year-old singer ran onto the stage to roaring applause and immediately launched into a lively performance of her song, ‘House Tour’.

She had a striking figure and wore a tight, sparkling red minidress that highlighted her legs.

Oh my god, when she sang ‘Taste’… it was EVERYTHING. Seriously, the energy was insane! Everyone’s been saying it’s totally about Shawn and Camila, you know, all their drama, and honestly? I think they’re right. She was serving looks and lyrics, and it felt like she was finally letting it all out. I could barely breathe!

Okay, let me tell you about this performance! It was absolutely stunning. The artist was doing this incredible, energetic choreography, and the staging was so clever. She actually danced above her backup dancers, who were lit up from behind on these panels. It instantly reminded me of the iconic ‘Cell Block Tango’ number from the movie Chicago – but flipped upside down! It was a really cool visual echo of that famous scene, and added a lot of drama to the whole number.

She then performed her 2024 hit, “Busy Woman,” playfully warning an ex that she’ll become someone he’ll fear.

She tries to dismiss him, claiming she’s very busy, but then the song unexpectedly shifts as she adds, ‘unless you call tonight.’

Her next single, “Manchild,” was a pointed critique of her ex-boyfriend, Barry Keoghan. It quickly became a fan favorite, so much so that she could have the audience sing along to large portions of the song from memory during her performances.

A scene from the 1959 film Some Like It Hot, featuring Tony Curtis and Marilyn Monroe talking about jazz, allowed Carpenter a moment to quickly change costumes.

She appeared on stage wearing a shimmering gold, sequined outfit and a sheer, flowing cape as she sang her song, “When Did You Get Hot?”

“I still can’t quite believe I’m headlining Coachella!” she exclaimed to the crowd, then playfully admitted, “Okay, I can believe it a little, but it sounds better to say I can’t, doesn’t it?”

She then performed her sad song, “Please Please Please,” on a stage designed like a recording studio. The song seemed to be about Keoghan.
