Maxfli Introduces New XC2 and XC3 Irons

I, as a dedicated fan of Maxfli, no longer want the brand to be just that forgotten box of balls on the shelf. I long for the days when someone would spot my Maxfli ball and say, “I used to play Maxfli back in the day.” Founded in Australia way back in 1922, this iconic brand was later acquired by DICK’s Sporting Goods in 2008. But now, Maxfli is making a grand comeback!

Ray North, the director of product management at Maxfli, made it clear to us that they aren’t merely reviving old traditions with this return. Instead, their focus is on creating top-tier golf equipment designed for performance. It’s not about nostalgia; it’s about pushing the boundaries and setting new standards in the world of golf.

Among the standout products in Maxfli’s latest offerings are the XC2 and XC3 forged irons, similar yet tailored to distinct players. While they share some design elements for convenient combination set creation, upon closer inspection, they cater to different types of golfers. The XC2, known as the distance iron, is a set of clubs that blends the slender profile of a blade with enhanced forgiveness. This is made possible by the ceramic insert situated behind the face, enabling weight redistribution for a more effective hit.

Instead, the XC3 irons, like the XC2, are crafted from robust 1025 carbon steel. However, they stand out with a radiused sole and a relieved leading edge, which enhances their interaction with the turf. The topline is thicker and the sole wider than the XC2 model, providing better conditions for stability and forgiveness.

The two sets of irons, priced at $1000 USD each, will only be accessible for purchase, both in physical stores and online, through DICK’S and Golf Galaxy starting from April 18th.
