Silent Hill f release date, story, what to expect
Silent Hill f takes horror back to rural Japan.
The release date for Silent Hill f is fast approaching, and there’s a lot to look forward to! In this game, you take on the role of Shimizu Hinako, a teenager, as you explore the eerie town of Ebisugaoka, which is shrouded in fog. You’ll encounter environmental challenges and battle hideous monsters along the way.
When is Silent Hill f release date?
2025 is projected to see the release of Silent Hill f, but as of now, Konami has kept its launch date under wraps. However, you can add Silent Hill f to your wishlist on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Steam, and Epic Store.
In January of this year, Silent Hill 5 received a rating in South Korea, sparking rumors about a possible upcoming update. Two months later, Konami officially announced a new transmission for Silent Hill titled “Silent Hill Transmission,” which primarily aims to shed light on Silent Hill 5.
The reboot of SH 2 received a rating in South Korea back in March 2024, which means it’ll be released around seven months later. Given this timeline, it’s likely that the new Silent Hill game will come out during autumn 2025.
What to expect from Silent Hill f?
Similar to previous versions, Silent Hill f is a horror game played from a third-person perspective set in a bizarre and terrifying fictional town, albeit not the traditional town of Silent Hill as seen in earlier games.
Instead, this novel is situated in a 1960s rural Japanese town modeled after Kanayama village in the Gifu Prefecture, with an atmosphere and vivid visuals reminiscent of typical SH settings. However, Ebisugaoka may not fall strictly into this category.
In the upcoming game Silent Hill f, Pyramid Head is missing, but there are fresh, dreadful creatures inspired by Japanese folklore instead. This game appears to be quite unsettling. The official website of the game warns about portrayals of gender inequality, child abuse, harassment, and intense violence, along with other sensitive topics.
In the trailer, Hinako is shown battling with a voice in her mind and doubting her own sanity. If you’re a fan of the Fatal Frame series, you might find this upcoming SH game engaging because it delves into the traditions and cultures of late 20th-century Japan, similar to the Fatal Frame games.
Additionally, the portrayal emphasizes elements of body horror. This is evident in Hinako’s tattered attire, the blood staining her arms, the disquieting floral growths, and the disturbing skin-peeling scene towards the end of the teaser trailer.
Notably, the fifth installment of Silent Hill boasts some well-known figures in its crew. The mastermind behind the thought-provoking horror visual novel Higurashi When They Cry, Ryukishi07, serves as both the storyteller and scriptwriter for this game.
Renowned composer Akira Yamaoka returns to steer the music of this game, collaborating with Kensuke Inage. In essence, Silent Hill 5 appears to be an innovative and invigorating addition to the survival horror genre that we eagerly anticipate playing.
