Rachel Zegler’s Hollywood Future Hangs on Snow White’s Success

For months, Disney’s upcoming live-action remake of Snow White has been embroiled in controversy. Now we are just days from the film’s release, and the Daily Mail can reveal that star Rachel Zegler is said to be feeling the pressure.

23-year-old actress found herself under criticism earlier when she described the 1937 classic animated film “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs” as both “outdated” and “odd.” She also garnered negative attention for expressing her wish that President Trump and his supporters would never experience tranquility.

According to various sources, it has been reported to The Daily Mail that Rachel’s career in Hollywood may hinge on the success of Snow White, as she has apparently faced industry repercussions following some controversial remarks, effectively leading to a ban from film projects.

In simpler terms, it has been mentioned that Zegler might be seen as a potential risk to projects… Thus, the success or failure of Snow White could significantly impact the fledgling actress’s professional future.

A confidant disclosed that the actress understands that, should the movie flop in the end, the blame might fall upon her. However, if it becomes a huge success at the box office, she may avoid being held accountable for its success.

If Snow White turns out to be extremely successful, Rachel Zegler will avoid criticism, but if it struggles to gain popularity, any fault will be attributed to her.

‘Her future in Hollywood stands on the box office numbers for this film. Rachel understands that.

Currently, everyone is taking a chance, with high stakes for Rachel. The unpredictable nature of show business is perfectly illustrated by this situation.

At present, everyone’s playing a gamble, and Rachel stands to win big or lose it all. The fickleness of Hollywood is evident in this scenario.

In my opinion, I’d describe that film as a series of relentless migraines, and it seems everyone connected to its production has had enough.

According to the source, they believed they were pioneering a unique path to craft something universally adored by making it more inclusive. However, after investing approximately $270 million, the executives find themselves filled with fear.

According to the same report, it’s crucial for Snow White to succeed if Rachel wants to restore her good name.

The source added, ‘Regrettably, she’s effectively barred from the industry due to some reasons, despite her immense skill set.’

Management is eager to release the film quickly and move on. The outcome could be extraordinarily profitable for Disney, making it one of their greatest hits, or it might turn into one of their costliest flops.

A Disney source has refuted this story, saying there is absolutely no basis for this claim.

Since the announcement of the company’s plan to remake the cherished original, controversy has swirled around the new adaptation – ranging from protests about the casting choices, dissatisfaction with script alterations, debates on whether Disney should incorporate dwarves in the reboot, and the surprise generated by Rachel’s comments.

Individuals desiring to watch Snow White prefer the movie they knew from their childhood. The seven dwarfs are iconic characters associated exclusively with this particular film, according to the source.

‘Tampering with that was a huge mistake, so too was casting Rachel … She is now a liability.’

Initiated the controversy was the announcement made by Disney, revealing that Rachel, a prominent Colombian-American actress famed for her role as Maria in Steven Spielberg’s West Side Story, would take on the part of Snow White.

Some traditionalists expressed dissatisfaction over the casting decision of a Latina actress for a German role, given that the classic fairy tale character Snow White is known for her extraordinary whiteness, reminiscent of snow and referred to as ‘the fairest one of all’.

The situation deteriorated further when Peter Dinklage, the Game of Thrones actor living with dwarfism, launched an impassioned critique of the film. He specifically criticized Disney for their proposed tale involving seven dwarfs, labeling it as a ‘regressive narrative’.

The actor advised, “Pause for a moment and consider your actions. I find it hard to understand what you’re presenting there. While you seem forward-thinking in some aspects, the tale you’re spinning about seven dwarves residing in a cave appears outdated.

Shortly following Dinklage’s outburst, it was declared by the network that rather than actual dwarves, Snow White’s companions would now be portrayed as magical beings.

However, this move further fueled anger, particularly among actors with dwarfism, as they argued that Disney’s action denied opportunities for individuals from their community to participate in the movie production.

As Rachel began suggesting numerous modifications to the storyline, people grew increasingly frustrated because they felt the initial story, being so old, required a fresh take rather than changes.

Instead of concentrating heavily on Snow White and the Prince’s romantic tale, she suggested the narrative would instead trace the Princess’s journey towards leadership.

However, her confession sparked concern among fairy tale enthusiasts, as they feared the revised edition might stray excessively from the beloved narrative. Some even criticized Disney for unnecessarily altering the story in an effort to appear more socially aware.

After a wave of viral interviews criticizing the initial narrative, the movie’s plot grew increasingly ambiguous.

Apart from confessing her dislike for the animated movie due to being frightened of it when young, she additionally labeled the prince character as intrusive or overly attentive.

Furthermore, a source disclosed to Page Six this week that Rachel declined to perform the beloved tune “Some Day My Prince Will Come” from the 1937 Disney film; in its place, a more empowering song called “Waiting on a Wish” has been chosen instead.

A confidant characterized her as ‘uncontainable’ and expressed that Disney is struggling to manage her, given her persistent advocacy for progressive ideas and expressing them publicly.

The confusion deepened when Disney unveiled their initial glimpse of Snow White in October, featuring Rachel seated within a cabin, flanked by seven CG-generated dwarfs.

Many people found themselves puzzled upon seeing the depiction of dwarves in the image, as the company had earlier clarified they would not feature any dwarves.

The producers appear to have changed their minds about casting a diverse group of actors as dwarves, following criticism from Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (Dinklage).

In light of the numerous scandals and public relations disasters involving the remake, it emerged recently that Disney has opted to reduce the extravagant premieres to just a few select, closely managed press gatherings.

On Wednesday evening, rather than taking place at London’s Leicester Square, the debut of Snow White was unexpectedly shifted to a secluded castle in Segovia, located northwest of Madrid.

Media outlets were not invited to the event and the public were banned from entering the castle.

This week later on, the actors are anticipated to participate in a modest pre-event and viewing at Hollywood’s El Capitan Theatre. However, as per Variety, only photographers and a maintenance team will have access for coverage.

The film is tracking to make between $50-$56million in its opening weekend.
