Sugababes Make Bold Move: New Single and Shocking Independence Revealed!
The Sugababes unveiled an unexpected transformation within their group when they came together again for a fresh single released on Thursday, also sharing the influential artist who spurred this reunion.
As a devoted fan, I’m thrilled to share that the dynamic trio, comprising Keisha Buchanan, Mutya Buena, and Siobhán Donaghy, has just unveiled their latest song titled “Jungle.” This is their long-awaited single after a two-year hiatus.
Prior to embarking on this new phase, the girl group has decided to make a significant shift by leaving their record label and venturing into independence.
Following the previous release of “When The Rain” in 2023 by them, it will be available through the major recording label, BMG.
In an interview with The Sun, the girls openly discussed the rationale behind their major choice, drawing comparisons with another artist who achieved success by adopting a similar approach.
Mutya said: ‘We have so many ideas and so much experience. We know what we want.’

Siobhan added her thoughts, saying, “Those at the labels may not have as extensive experience as we do. After all, it’s your vision and goals that matter most.
It seems to me that Raye played a crucial role in effectively conveying the message. She was self-assured about her identity and clear about the type of music she wanted to produce.
The team confessed that, although they initially found individuals within the industry who seemed to comprehend them, such people are becoming increasingly rare these days.
Following my departure from Polydor Records, I ventured into the world of independent music, and the release of my debut album “My 21st Century Blues” has brought me recent recognition and acclaim.
Last year, her musical journey from relative anonymity to a globally recognized pop star achieved even greater peaks when she created history by triumphantly capturing six Brit Awards in a spectacular fashion.
In a remarkable turn of events last year, she received an unprecedented seven nominations, making her the artist with the highest number of nominations in a single year. However, due to being double-nominated for Song of the Year – first for “Escapism,” which ultimately took the prize, and second for “Prada” – she couldn’t have won more than she did.
One impressive resurgence in the music world was achieved by the singer-songwriter, who experienced a remarkable return to fame mere three years following her previous label, Polydor, choosing not to publish any of her albums.
She acknowledged her fresh start during her Best New Artist Acceptance Speech, humorously adding: ‘I must express gratitude towards my mom, dad, who are likewise part of my crew, as well as my grandmother. Indeed, grandma! Sometimes, I truly embody a novice artist.’
Back in the day, at just 15 years old, I took the plunge and shared my very first composition with the world. A year later, I followed up with a mixtape. But here’s the thing, if you decide to give them a listen, be prepared for some rough edges – time hasn’t been too kind to those early creations of mine.

However, I have the sensation of being a fresh artist, embarking on a new journey. The artist I was three years back wouldn’t recognize what I see today. Now, I wear the hat of my own boss, steering my own course. Thank you!
Thrilled, the Sugababes expressed their joy about their latest single, “Jungle,” in a statement, saying, “We can hardly wait to share it with everyone, marking a fresh start for us following three amazing years touring. This new chapter is here!
Immediately upon being composed, it seemed as though this tune was exactly what listeners needed to hear initially. It’s a song that encourages breaking free from the traditional 9-5 workday, and we believe that everyone will find themselves tapping into their wild side when they listen to it!
The track, crafted by Jon Shave who is renowned for his work on Charli XCX’s Grammy-winning album BRAT, skillfully fuses the distinctive girl group harmonies with a fusion of 2-step, garage, and alternative pop styles.
Currently, the Sugababes are collaborating on new songs with none other than Jade Thirlwall, who is now commonly referred to as just JADE from Little Mix.
In their latest chat, the creators behind “Round Round” shared that they have already worked on a verse and a chorus for the song, but the full project with the artist is still underway.
In an interview with NME, Keisha mentioned that it was delightful to present JADE with the BRIT Award for Best Pop Act. Interestingly, they even had a songwriting session together just a few weeks prior, making the experience even more exciting.
Siobhan inquired of her bandmate if they had listened to the track again yet, to which Keisha responded: “Indeed, I gave it another listen the other day. To be honest, it wasn’t fully polished. We only did a verse and chorus, but there’s definitely some potential there.
In the context of working with JADE, Siobhán noted that the ambiance was quite casual: an unrushed setting where both Keisha and JADE applied their makeup before going out, while everyone else continued writing. It had a thrilling vibe to it.

In the meantime, the girls are aiming for a spot on the famous Pyramid stage at Glastonbury. They’ve made sure to include it in their aspirations, as they consider it a must-play venue.
Yet, Keisha points out her preference for the girls to have a few fresh tunes in their repertoire initially, to ensure they won’t be perceived as merely a throwback group.
She mentioned that she aims for their performance to have a “vibrant and contemporary” feel, stressing its importance while also noting that the term “reunion” doesn’t resonate with them since it doesn’t accurately reflect their current situation.
Next month, the band embarks on their largest-ever tour across the UK and Europe, starting on April 8 in Leeds and concluding in Milan in May.
Keisha, Mutya and Siobhan formed the iconic girl band in 1998.
After Siobhan departed in 2001, there were numerous changes in the lineup. Heidi Range took over, followed by replacements for Mutya and Keisha, who were both replaced by Amelle Berrabah and Jade Ewen during the mid-2000s.
As a devoted fan, I’ve been thrilled to witness the triumphant comeback of my favorite trio in 2019 when they reclaimed their name. Since then, they’ve achieved immense success, selling out numerous shows not just in the UK but also on the international stage. It’s been an exciting journey for us all!
