Guy Ritchie’s action-packed Sherlock Holmes movies get a new UK streaming home
Guy Ritchie’s beloved Sherlock Holmes films have a new UK streaming home.
Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s renowned detective character has been reinterpreted on various occasions, ranging from Benedict Cumberbatch’s critically acclaimed TV show to the classic film series featuring Basil Rathbone and Nigel Bruce as Sherlock Holmes from 1939 to 1946.
2009 saw Guy Ritchie’s unique take on the classic character Sherlock Holmes in a movie adaptation, with Robert Downey Jr. portraying the lead role.
After it, there came a second part titled “Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows” in the year 2011. Currently, you can find both movies streaming online on Amazon Prime Video.
In 1890, Ritchie’s first Sherlock Holmes movie finds the detective working side by side with his associate Dr. John Watson, portrayed by Jude Law. Together they unravel the mysteries surrounding Lord Blackwood, a mystifying illusionist who appears to have defied death. (Mark Strong plays Lord Blackwood)
The movie “Iron Man,” featuring Downey Jr., turned out to be a massive success at the box office, even winning a Golden Globe award for its lead actor. Additionally, it received two nominations for the prestigious Academy Awards.

The film “A Game of Shadows” was influenced by multiple Sherlock Holmes short stories, such as “The Final Problem” and “The Adventure of the Empty House.
Downey Jr. and Law once again took on their characters as Holmes and Watson, embarking on a journey across Europe with gypsy fortune teller Madame Simza, played by Noomi Rapace. Together, they sought to thwart the schemes of the cunning Professor Moriarty, portrayed by Jared Harris, whose plan aimed at inciting a large-scale conflict in Europe.
It appears that a third movie is being developed, this time directed by Dexter Fletcher, as Ritchie focuses on producing a TV show titled “Young Sherlock” for Amazon’s Prime Video platform.
The actor Hero Fiennes Tiffin is slated to portray the role of Sherlock in an upcoming TV series. This production will delve into the early life of the detective, inspired by the young adult book series “Young Sherlock Holmes” penned by Andy Lane.
Colin Firth is also set to star alongside Zine Tseng, Joseph Fiennes and Natascha McElhone.
The series is set to chronicle the journey of a 19-year-old Holmes as he delves into his initial investigation, an intricate murder mystery unfolding at Oxford University, ultimately revealing a vast international plot.
