Matt Moran’s Soft Side Exposed
Matt Moran is a classic Aussie pavlova – hard on the outside but all gooey on the inside.
At the grand unveiling of my latest culinary creation, I found myself graciously seated for an intimate chat with Daily Mail Australia. As fans eagerly surrounded us, I couldn’t help but reveal glimpses into the most cherished episodes of my gastronomical journey – from heartwarming food memories to my upcoming Easter festivities and the emotional rollercoaster that awaits viewers in my new series.
Talking about Memory Bites featuring Matt Moran, where the 55-year-old restaurant owner reenacts the most significant culinary experiences of his famous acquaintances, he referred to it as “a harmonious confluence of a perfect series of events.
The concept for the TV show emerged as an extension from a YouTube series that the renowned chef initiated during the COVID-19 period, when he found himself with limited activities.
For some time now, Matt has been crafting meals that evoke fond memories among his friends, a style he terms as both enjoyable and endearing, all while tugging at their heartstrings.
Contemplating a shared experience with his close friend and fellow actor Richard Roxburgh during a cooking session, the chef discovered that delving into his friend’s childhood and personal life through culinary art and dialogue gave him a deeper insight into Richard’s character. This moving journey of understanding left a strong emotional impact on both parties.

Asked point-blank if I choked up during filming, the steadfast cook hesitated before confessing with a tender smile, “I guess you could say I wear my heart on my sleeve.
As a devoted fan, I can’t help but feel a wave of nostalgia whenever I tune into this show. Among the esteemed guests gracing our screens are Richard Roxburgh, Pia Miranda, Ross Noble, Danielle Cormack, Courtney Act, and Christine Anu.
However, while Matt’s friends share their deepest food-related memories, Matt’s recollection is a delightfully straightforward, yet sugary one.
As I contemplate creating date scones, I find myself reminiscing about the cherished moments I shared with my grandmother during our holiday times when I was young.
On Sundays, the TV personality fondly remembers roasted lamb, and sips of milk fresh from the churn bring back joyful memories of his or her childhood as well.
However, what seems to be most meaningful for the star are the memories he creates today with his loved ones – his family and companions.
Discussing his Easter arrangements, Matt mentioned that he usually organizes an Easter egg hunt for his children on his farm.
He laughed a little, saying it was unfortunate that they were growing older, yet they would persist, he noted. Mentioning a potential hurdle, he added that this year’s wrestling for eggs might be slightly tricky since his son has grown taller than him.

Regarding the menu, the chef is planning a barbecued lamb dish, while the delightful Sylvia Colloca, an actress and cookbook author, will handle the hot cross buns. She’ll be joining forces with the chef during the extended weekend along with her partner Roxburgh.
If Sylvia doesn’t bake hot cross buns for him, it’s unlikely that she’ll be invited to bake again, and he found this amusing.
According to Matt, it’s his friends and family who form the bedrock of his achievements, providing him with a sense of balance amidst the frenzy of fame’s relentless race.
‘I believe in looking after people and they’ll look after you.’
Matt emphasized that having a strong support system is like a powerful springboard to success. He referred to individuals who claim they can accomplish everything on their own as ‘those seemingly lacking common sense or wisdom.’
‘Surround yourself with good people,’ he said.
‘I surround myself with really good people,’ he proudly shared, before adding: ‘I’m very lucky.’
The proof is in the pudding: Matt Moran is a hard-hitting chef and an undeniable giant softie.
