Jonathan Cheban Sets the Record Straight on Kim Kardashian Friendship Rumors!

In a recent open discussion, celebrity chef and friend of many years, Jonathan Cheban (also known as Foodgod), addressed rumors suggesting a rift between him and Kim Kardashian.

Since their public outing at the Fontainebleau grand opening in Las Vegas back in December 2023, these close friends haven’t been spotted together in a public setting.

Yet, in June, it was Jonathan, aged 51, who graced the scene at Khloe Kardashian’s 40th birthday bash, an event captured for Hulu’s The Kardashians series. This particular episode aired on March 6.

Recently, some fans have speculated about the current state of their friendship between the food influencer and Kim (aged 44), due to a noticeable decrease in their public appearances together compared to their previous frequency.

In an interview with DailyMail.com, Jonathan clarified misconceptions by sharing details about his 15-year friendship with his well-known companion.

During a candid conversation with DailyMail.com, Jonathan addressed and cleared up misunderstandings regarding the 15-year bond he shares with his high-profile friend.

When asked about introducing someone to her, he replied, “To be honest, I’m not sure about her preferences. I mainly focus on our messaging and current happenings.

‘I never get involved with her with [dating] or business. We’re just straight through.’

He continued, ‘People are always like, “Oh, but I want to talk to Kim.” ‘I’m like, “I don’t know.”‘

I value our 15-year friendship, and I’m content with what we already share; I have no desire to ask anything more from her, be it personal connections or business collaborations. My aim is to maintain this friendship without any complications arising.

‘I don’t need anything except her friendship,’ he insisted.

Over the course of their 15-year-long friendship, he explained that the key to their lasting bond was maintaining distance in each other’s personal lives, choosing not to intervene.

He explained, “That’s the reason – I stay clear of discussing financial matters or personal relationships with him. Our conversations span a wide range of topics over our fifteen-year friendship.

Regarding Scott Disick, who usually stays out of the limelight and is the father of three kids with Kourtney Kardashian’s sister, Kourtney, Jonathan shared that he hasn’t had a chance to see him for quite some time. In fact, it’s been a while since they last met.

On March 11, during the inauguration celebration of Planet Hollywood in Times Square as seen by DailyMail.com, the entrepreneur shared his thoughts about the revamped restaurant’s unveiling.

Last week, his friend inflated a giant inflatable bikini figure, about 60 feet tall, right in the heart of Times Square to promote her new SKIMS product line.

When asked for his reaction, Foodgod said, ‘I saw pictures of it… Wow!

I’m curious about what hours Kim usually sleeps, as everything she does seems extraordinarily impressive and captivating, which leaves me in a state of awe, almost to the point of astonishment.

Following its widespread distribution, fans swiftly criticized it online, with one commenting that the Kim doll seemed self-conscious about being present.

Others dubbed the giant balloon ‘terrifying’ and joked that onlookers should ‘run for their lives.’

Jonathan, however, was quick to defend the SKIMS founder over the backlash.  

‘I don’t care. Nobody should care. Everyone gives backlash about [everything]. 

In his conversation with DailyMail.com, he expressed that right now, everything seems insignificant. He receives negativity throughout the day regarding various topics. If there were no hatred, he admits that he would be extremely bored.

In 2009, these long-time friends first crossed paths at a birthday celebration for socialite Brittny Gastineau held at Casa Vega in Sherman Oaks, California. At this gathering, Jonathan – who was a publicist at the time – revealed that they quickly formed a strong connection.

In the early stages of their friendship, they seldom spent time apart. They frequently took vacations together and regularly attended events side by side.

In the early seasons, Jonathan frequently appeared as a guest star on the reality TV series, Keeping Up With the Kardashians.

2021 saw Kim candidly expressing gratitude for her closest friend’s support during her toughest moments, including standing by her side after the incident in New Jersey where he was robbed.

She expressed great joy that Jonathan was present. Having him around feels wonderful. The mix of being a mother, the recent robbery, and listening to Jonathan seems to trigger her anxiety once more. It’s almost as if the robbery incident recurred for her, she explained to the cameras, alluding to the well-known robbery that took place in Paris back in October 2016.

In the last few months, people have been discussing a possible strain between Jonathan and Kim as they haven’t been seen together in public for a while.

Additionally, there were some surprised reactions when it was seen that he was socializing with Bethenny Frankel in October 2024, following the previous year’s incident where she criticized Kim for her extravagant holiday decorations.

Supporters turned to online platforms like Reddit to discuss the situation, wondering aloud, “Did something occur between them, or could it be that they’re simply preoccupied with other tasks? Is there any acknowledged conflict involved?

It’s my assumption that during their time together, he may have had his moment, but considering how she might have advanced professionally and personally, it seems likely that she eventually outgrew him.

Another user said, ‘I’m curious also, he was literally obsessed with Kim.’

A piece posted on Hola! sparked discussions among fans, suggesting that Kim’s confidence may have been shaken following whispers about the potential disclosure of confidential data.

According to the article, a commenter asserted their belief that he had been the source of leaks all along, and eventually, connections with him were severed.

It is suggested that he might be the reason we haven’t received any news about the Kardashians lately, because of the rumors that he exposed all their secrets.

Kim has not publicly commented on the status of her friendship with Jonathan. 

In addition to communicating with Kim via text and featuring on The Kardashians, Foodgod has also been quite occupied by traveling worldwide to generate content for his social media platforms.

The social media personality found himself in Milan, Italy, specifically at Philipp Plein’s The Plein Hotel. There, he indulged in a Dom Perignon pizza priced at $1,500. Earlier, his travels took him to Dubai for the grand opening of Sirene by Gaia, a new beach club.

‘I’m very picky,’ he said, referring to places he visits.

‘They have to have special, over-the-top things. I don’t do just regular restaurants.’

When inquired about his well-toned physique, he shared with DailyMail.com that while he does visit the gym occasionally, he isn’t someone who spends a lot of time there.

Rather than jumping aboard the Ozempic train, he expressed a preference for medicine that has the opposite effect – one that promotes muscle growth instead.

He mused, “If only there existed a drug like Ozempic for building muscles. I suppose it would be steroids, but I can’t say for sure. It just doesn’t seem fair with everyone getting so slim now.” Laughing, he acknowledged his luck in having a ‘really good’ metabolism that doesn’t store excess fat.

Right now, his New York City go-to’s are Polo Bar, The Corner Store, Chez Margaux and Zero Bond.

The glamorous event held at Planet Hollywood was orchestrated by the food chain’s CEO, Robert Earl, along with celebrities like Alec and Hilaria Baldwin, 50 Cent, and Boy George. Notably, Boy George also provided a DJ set for the exclusive attendees.

The evening featured performances by Pete Davidson, Arnold Schwarzenegger alongside his son Patrick Schwarzenegger, Whoopi Goldberg, Liev Schreiber, as well as several cast members from the Real Housewives of New York City and New Jersey.

Visitors relished drinks from 50 Cent’s Le Chemin Du Roi and Branson Cognac while being granted a privileged preview of the revamped, contemporary setting boasting 360-degree advanced television screens spread across its three levels.
