Lilo & Stitch fans praise “perfect” trailer for Disney’s live-action remake
A lengthy sneak peek of the freshly announced Lilo & Stitch film is now available, and enthusiasts of Disney are already praising it as “flawless”.
Set for a release in May, the remake helmed by Dean Fleischer Camp – the writer-director behind the Oscar-nominated animated film “Marcel the Shell with Shoes On” – narrates the tale of its titular duo, an unusual pair consisting of a human girl named Lilo and an endearing alien named Stitch.
In a fresh take, Chris Sanders, the initial voice behind Stitch in Lilo & Stitch, reappears in the new version of the role. This revamped production has not only captured the attention of long-time fans but also won their hearts with its faithful inclusion of crucial aspects from the original film, as evidenced by numerous praises left in the YouTube comments section for the remake.
A individual praised the upcoming remake, commending it for incorporating Elvis Presley’s song “(You’re the) Devil in Disguise”, a track that was part of the original 2002 film’s soundtrack as well.
Wow, from the Elvis tunes to the unexpectedly dropped ice cream, it’s all spot-on – a subtle nod to the unfortunate ice cream-lover character from the original movie,” they observed.
The original post reads: “I’m genuinely looking forward to this first Disney live-action remake.” The person continues, “The design of Stitch and the other extraterrestrial characters is impressive, and it brings back fond memories seeing familiar scenes reimagined.”
“I can’t wait for this first Disney live-action retelling, and let me tell you, they’ve done an amazing job with Stitch and those other alien characters! It’s so cool to see all these classic scenes recreated.
Enthusiasm for this also extended to X/Twitter. One social media user commented, “I must admit I’ve been quite critical of Disney’s recent choices and offerings. However, it seems like they might be getting back on track with this, looking fun-filled indeed. Great job!
Another person expressed, “By the end of this film, I’ll likely be reduced to a tear-soaked pool. It seems flawless to me.
In addition to Sanders reprising his role for the adorable extraterrestrial character, this remake also features Maia Kealoha as Lilo and Sydney Elizebeth Agudong as Lilo’s elder sister Nani. Completing the principal cast are Courtney B Vance portraying Cobra Bubbles, Zach Galifianakis bringing Dr Jumba Jookiba to life, and Hannah Waddingham lending her voice to the Grand Councilwoman.
In addition to the original cast members, there are some familiar faces taking on new roles in the upcoming film. Tia Carrere and Amy Hill, known for their voices as Nani and Mrs. Hasagawa in the initial movie, will be playing social worker Mrs Kekoa and Tūtū respectively. Meanwhile, Jason Scott Lee, who portrayed Nani’s boyfriend David previously, takes on the role of a lū’au manager in this new production.
The real-life version of Lilo & Stitch will hit theaters on May 23rd. Meanwhile, you can watch the original animated film on Disney+.
