Maeve’s Heartfelt Tribute: Unseen Snap of Sean Lock Sparks Emotional Memories
In a touching tribute, three years following his demise, Sean Lock‘s less frequently glimpsed daughter, Maeve, posted an unreleased photo of her late father on social media.
In August 2021, when he was just 58, the comedian passed away from cancer, leaving behind an estate worth over £4 million for his wife and children.
On Tuesday, Maeve, who usually keeps her father away from public attention, posted a heartfelt tribute to him on her TikTok account.
Maeve posted a current selfie alongside an old photo of Lock with his spouse and Maeve’s mom, Anoushka Nara Gilstoff.
Maeve wrote, ‘It’s a clash!’ She paired this with the phrase ‘Two Worlds Collide’ and a snippet of Adele’s song, ‘Hometown Glory.’
In the selfie, Maeve bore a striking resemblance to her mother, which prompted an outpouring of sympathy and condolences from her supporters, as they expressed their sorrow over her passing.

Lock was a well-liked regular on the comedy talk show “8 Out of 10 Cats,” which was hosted by Jimmy Carr. He also made appearances on other popular shows such as QI, The Last Leg, Have I Got News for You, and The Big Fat Quiz of the Year.
2021 saw my heart shatter as one of my idols in the comedy world took his final bow. A torrent of heartfelt tributes flooded in from fellow comedians who were not just colleagues, but friends – Bill Bailey, Kevin Bridges, Ricky Gervais, and Stephen Fry – all paying their respects to the man who brought laughter into our lives.
The probate documents showed that Lock’s total assets amounted to approximately £4,084,911, which was intended for distribution among his relatives.
As a devoted family member, I have ensured that my beloved wife Anoushka, along with our precious three children, will be the inheritors of our estate, securely held within a trust, according to my wishes.
As a native of Chertsey, Surrey, I embarked on my professional journey in the early ’80s, laboring on construction sites. However, an unfortunate incident occurred when I was diagnosed with skin cancer – a condition I firmly attribute to extended sunlight exposure during my work.
He recovered and decided to focus on a career in comedy.
At the start of his television journey, Lock made an appearance on the 1993 show “Newman and Baddiel in Pieces”, sharing the screen with comedy peers Rob Newman and David Baddiel.
2000 found me ecstatic when they declared him the Best Live Comic at the British Comedy Awards – a moment I’ll cherish forever! And let me tell you, he’s no stranger to the limelight; before that, he’d even been nominated for the illustrious Perrier Comedy Award.

In the year 2006, he was responsible for both presenting and producing the Channel 4 series titled “TV Heaven, Telly Hell.” This program featured discussions about what guests liked and didn’t like on television.
The show featured a lineup with Alan Davies, Johnny Vaughan, David Mitchell, Bill Bailey, Johnny Vegas, and Nick Hancock as its guests.
However, Lock, who was a father of three, gained prominence not just as any father, but primarily as the team captain on the humorous discussion program 8 Out of 10 Cats, which Jimmy Carr hosted.
The show saw panellists answer questions based on statistics and opinion polls.
In a statement about his passing, Off The Kerb Productions noted: “Sean was undeniably one of the UK’s most brilliant comedians. His limitless imagination, quick humor, and the absurd genius of his performances made him an extraordinary talent in British comedy.
In his tribute, comedian Bill Bailey stated: “I am deeply saddened by the loss of my closest friend, Sean Lock. He was one-of-a-kind, an exceptional comedian.

Jon Richardson, who teamed up with Lock on 8 Out of 10 Cats as fellow captains, stated: ‘I admired Sean greatly as a comedian even before I started my own comedy career, and working with him for ten years didn’t lessen that respect in any way. He had an extraordinary comic mind and a truly distinct voice.’
I proudly acknowledge that I belong to a generation graced by one of the funniest and most impactful comedians. Truly, he’s an exceptional individual with a kind heart.
Kevin Bridges described Lock as ‘one of the soundest guys in comedy’.
Stephen Fry said: ‘What a loss. My heart goes out to his family.’
