Clash Royale Tower Troops Guide: Introduction, Upgrading, List of Cards, and more

The much-anticipated “Tower Troops” are now part of Clash Royale, introduced in the December 2023 update. Earlier plans for the 2024 roadmap had hinted at this new card type, and it seems our wait has been rewarded with a variety of fresh troops. In this guide, let’s delve into the changes brought by these “Tower Troops” in Clash Royale, and explore the exciting possibilities they present.

Clash Royale Tower Troops Guide: Overview

Introduction

In the game Clash Royale, Tower Troops serve as a new feature. You can locate them within the Cards section, where your collection of cards typically resides. What makes these troops unique is that they are focused primarily on defense, strategically positioned atop your Crown Towers.

You won’t believe it until you see it, but your adversary won’t have a clue about these Tower Troops until the battle starts for real. As an added touch, we’ve decided to rename those Princess Towers as Crown Towers.

Abilities

Each Tower Troop contributes a special skill to your Clash Royale tactics, giving every deployment a distinctive touch. Like your standard cards, Tower Troops also have varying levels of rarity, allowing for easy sorting based on this factor.

In addition to your standard battle setup, Tower Troops occupy a specific slot within your Battle Deck due to their essential role. These slots can be interchanged with other cards once they’re deployed in the game.

Collecting and Upgrading

Tower Troops can enhance through a mix of Cards known as Tower Troop cards and Gold. You can acquire these special Tower Troop cards from Tower Troop Chests. On the other hand, Magic Books have no relevance in Tower Troop upgrades; instead, you can use Magic Coins to offset the cost of gold required for the upgrade process.

In this game, the troops associated with the Towers adhere to a simple progression where they cannot exceed the level of the King Tower. Unlike cards that may be over-leveled, if your King Tower is at Level 12, the troops connected to it will not advance beyond Level 12 either.

In less complex words: If your King Tower is only at Level 12, you won’t get any Level 13 Tower Troops. Instead, you can boost them using ‘Wild Cards’, similar to how you would upgrade your normal cards, depending on their rarity.

List of Tower Troops in Clash Royale

At present, there’s just a single Tower Troop in Clash Royale, but come January 2024, a fresh card is due to join our ranks.

1. Tower Princess

  • Rarity: Common
  • Targets: Air and Ground

As the initial member of the Tower Troop in the game, the character known as Tower Princess has departed from her preferred location and is now a card that can be swapped out for other troops. In terms of rarity within the game, she falls under the Common category. She will occupy approximately 7.5 tiles in the game and boasts a Hit Speed of 0.8 seconds.

2. The Cannoneer

  • Rarity: Epic
  • Targets: Air and Ground

Our newest addition to Tower Troop is referred to as The Cannoneer, marking it as the first of your upcoming card releases in 2024 and the second overall. This is a remarkable card that debuted with the January 2024 update or Season 55. The Cannoneer fires Cannon balls directly at opponents, causing significant damage to them.

3. Dagger Dutchess

  • Rarity: Legendary
  • Targets: Air and Ground

The Dagger Dutchess was presented in the Season 58 update for Clash Royale in April 2024. This character was the second Tower Troop introduced that year and the third overall. She is a single-target tower troop with high hit points, capable of throwing daggers that inflict substantial damage initially. However, as she depletes her supply and reloads, her attack slows down.

4. Royal Chef

  • Rarity: Legendary
  • Targets: Air and Ground

Among the captivating enhancements made in the December 2024 update for Clash Royale during Season 62, the Tower Troop known as Royal Chef, introduces a unique twist to the gameplay. Rather than inflicting massive damage or absorbing hits, it tosses pancakes every 21 seconds to the unit with the highest health, momentarily increasing their level by one.
