Nicolas Cage dismissed in ex-girlfriend’s lawsuit, but assault claims against their son remain

In simpler terms, the legal battle between Nicholas Cage and his ex-girlfriend Christina Fulton regarding an assault and battery claim against their son will not proceed any further for him. The initial accusation of negligence towards him was dropped.

On Monday, the Los Angeles County Superior Court granted Nicholas Cage, the Oscar-winning actor from “Leaving Las Vegas”, a dismissal of the allegations made against him by Fulton. This dismissal is permanent (with prejudice), which means that Fulton cannot resubmit her claims regarding Cage in the future. In her filing on Friday, Fulton clarified that this dismissal applies solely to Cage and not to any other defendants involved in the case.

In February, Fulton filed a lawsuit against her ex and their son Weston Cage, who is 34 years old, claiming that he inflicted “severe injuries” on her in an attack that took place in April 2024. Fulton was romantically involved with Nicolas Cage from 1988 to 1991.

On Tuesday, neither Fulton’s nor Nicholas Cage’s legal counsel promptly provided a comment to The Times following individual inquiries.

Nicholas Cage’s legal representative denies the claims brought forth by Christina Fulton, who is currently involved in a lawsuit against Weston Cage over allegations of assault, and against Nicholas Cage for not preventing their shared son from engaging in violent behavior.

In her court case, Fulton claimed that she went to see Weston following distressing messages about his worsening mental health from his acquaintances. On this visit, Weston assaulted her in a parking lot, elevator, and lobby close to his residence, leading to grave and potentially fatal injuries such as a concussion, an eye injury, numerous bruises, injuries to the neck and throat, and PTSD, according to Fulton’s accusations.

Fulton claimed that Nicolas Cage ignored his son’s violent and mentally unstable behavior by choosing not to address it, while still providing him with financial aid. Furthermore, she asserted that the actor purchased a condo adjacent to his for their son, bailed him out of jail on several occasions, and knowingly drank alcohol with him despite his struggles with substance abuse. Fulton filed a lawsuit against Weston for assault, battery, negligence, intentional infliction of emotional distress, and negligent infliction of emotional distress. She also filed two counts of negligence against Nicolas Cage.

In a statement made to The Times in February, attorney Brian Wolf, representing the actor, refuted Fulton’s claims by stating that “Nicolas Cage has no influence over Weston’s actions and is not accountable for Weston’s reported attack on his mother.

By Tuesday afternoon, Fulton’s petition to drop her accusations against Weston hasn’t been submitted yet. The actor-musician didn’t give an instant reply when The Times asked for a comment on the matter.
