Disco Elysium Spiritual Successor ‘Hopetown’ Gets a Teaser Trailer as Kickstarter Campaign Begins Next Week
The development team known as Longdue, which includes ex-developers from Disco Elysium and other seasoned professionals in the industry, has revealed that their Kickstarter campaign for Hopetown will commence in the upcoming week.
Hopetown, like a spiritual heir to Disco Elysium, is slated to be an innovative role-playing game with a focus on “psychogeography”, as claimed by its creators. The actor Lenval Brown will be heard voicing a significant character within the game, having previously contributed his distinctive voice to Disco Elysium, where he served as the narrator.
Furthermore, Martin Luiga, a founding member of the ZA/UM Cultural Association, has become part of the development team at Longdue. He is responsible for writing the initial short story and scripts for seven characters within the Disco Elysium universe.
Luiga expressed his excitement about discussing his personal experiences with Longdue to contribute towards shaping the storyline and structures for “Hopetown”. He aimed to build on the successes of narrative RPGs so far, while also introducing fresh ideas to weave a captivating tale that balances elements from the past, present, and future.
He stated, “I am certain that our team will create an impressive expansion for the library of Western Role-Playing Games. I invite all enthusiasts of the RPG and adventure genre to support the Kickstarter campaign for Hopetown so we can bring this game to life.
I’m thrilled to share that Piotr Sobolewski is joining our crew, the guy who led a team of fifteen in creating the one-of-a-kind vibe of Disco Elysium. He was crucial in transforming its raw, gritty essence into something polished, harmonious, and incredibly immersive. It’s all part of assembling a team made up of Disco Elysium veterans, AAA heavyweights, and indie master craftsmen, as Narrative Lead Grant Roberts puts it. As a gamer, I can’t wait to see what we’ll create together!
At Longdue, we’ve assembled and are consistently growing a dynamic team, brimming with potential – each one eager to showcase their abilities,” said Roberts. “Hopetown, in essence, is the result of combining those creative minds: a vivid, responsive universe, crisp narrative, and an RPG that exudes depth and ambiance.
The crowdfunding campaign for “Hopetown” begins on March 17th. We’re looking forward to sharing further information about the game’s psychogeographic and journalism mechanics, its mining town setting, and additional details. Fingers crossed, we’ll also receive updates regarding the platforms it will be available on.
