Luke Pasqualino’s old crime show is trending on Netflix despite being branded “tiresome”

The TV adaptation of Guy Ritchie’s 2000 gangster movie Snatch is now trending on Netflix.

Back in 2017, I got my hands on “Snatch,” a thrilling ride that dropped me right into the heart of criminal underworld. This game (yep, it felt like a game) revolves around a gang of street-smart hustlers who accidentally lay their hands on a truckload of gold bullion. Before we knew it, they were neck deep in the high-stakes world of organized crime!

Included in the group are actors such as Luke Pasqualino from Skins, Rupert Grint known for his role in Harry Potter, and Lucien Laviscount, famed for Emily in Paris.

The series was added to Netflix last week and has been trending in the UK’s Top 10 ever since.

Regardless of its popularity among viewers on the streaming platform, the show Snatch received mostly negative feedback from critics at the time it premiered and currently boasts a ‘sour’ rating of 39% on review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes based on 18 reviews.

As a dedicated gamer, I’ve found myself often feeling underwhelmed by this game. Yahoo seems to agree, labeling it as tiresome due to its relentless attempts to impress. Meanwhile, IGN echoes my sentiments with their critique of the writing as lacklustre.

According to Collider’s review, it’s the lack of genuine curiosity about the criminal mind by Snatch that eventually undermines the entire venture.

The reviews aren’t all bad, however, with Variety describing it as “punchy” and “adventurous”.

According to the Boston Globe, the fresh TV show, modeled after Guy Ritchie’s 2000 film, is filled with enjoyable moments, offering a fashionable take on a humorously rebellious heist tale.

The stellar cast of “Snatch” boasts Dougray Scott from “The Crow Girl”, Marc Warren from “Hustle”, Phoebe Dynevor, known for her role in “Bridgerton”, and Ed Westwick, best recognized from “Gossip Girl”.

I’m thrilled to share that the TV series adaptation of Guy Ritchie’s “The Gentlemen” was officially renewed for a second season last year! This means Theo James and Kaya Scodelario will reprise their roles as Eddie Horniman and Susie Glass. Excitingly, filming is set to begin this year, so I can’t wait to see what unfolds in the next chapter of this captivating story.
