Will Smith & Jada Pinkett’s Joint Statement After His Steamy Performance Controversy

Together, Will Smith and his spouse, Jada Pinkett Smith, issued their initial joint statement following the controversy over his questionable behavior with a female artist at the Premio Lo Nuestro awards event in Miami, presenting an united front.

Last month’s performance by Will and Spain’s India Martinez was passionate, leading many to believe they shared a kiss. However, some spectators were displeased because of the unconventional nature of his relationship with Jada, which is not traditionally marital.

Every Monday, I find myself joining forces with the esteemed 56-year-old A-list actor in our combined family portrait, as we celebrate and honor National Napping Day together.

In a friendly manner, she appeared to harbor no resentment towards her spouse, as they all smiled together in a family photo with their adult children, Jaden, 26, and Willow, 24.

In the family photo, it was Will’s eldest son, Trey Smith (aged 32), who joined from his first marriage with Sheree Zampino. Both of them were captured in the snapshot.

Throughout their post, Will Smith and Jada Pinkett-Smith avoided mentioning his recent controversial kiss, but they did manage to add a humorous touch by poking fun at each other in a playful photo.

In a navy Adidas tracksuit adorned with red stripes, Will could be seen napping outdoors on a veranda, while Jada, Sheree, and the kids playfully made funny faces at him.

53-year-old Jada flaunted her bright blonde hair and brows, then jokingly poked fun at her spouse by lowering her gaze and sticking out her tongue.

‘Someone say it was national napping day?’ Will captioned the photo.

The special day following the restart of daylight savings is known as the “novelty holiday,” symbolizing the fatigue that many Americans often feel due to having lost an hour of slumber.

In this image, Willow is making the “rock on” or devil horns gesture, whereas Jayden has peace symbols over his eyes. Meanwhile, Trey seems to indicate that he finds his father amusing by mimicking a “join” gesture.

Sheree appeared to agree with Jada, hinting this through a knowing gaze and pressing her lips together as she faced the camera.

To ensure Trey, his eldest son, is present at family functions, Will has exerted an effort. Consistently, Trey has accompanied his father and step-siblings to various public outings and award ceremonies.

In a 2022 installment of Jada’s Red Table Talk podcast, Jada invited Sheree as her guest for a discussion about their friendship that developed during the early stages of Jada’s relationship with Will. This conversation took place while Will was still married to Sheree, from 1992 to 1995, and before he later married Jada in 1997.

Jada admitted that her nuptials came ‘too soon’ after Will’s divorce from his first wife. 

In her words, ‘We’re navigating a mixed family situation without a clear roadmap. We’ve had to learn as we go.’ She explained that for her, the key was maturity. ‘I didn’t fully grasp the intricacies of remarriage, like thinking, “The divorce papers are signed, and everyone has moved on,” but it’s not that simple.’

However, she made it clear that it was something that ‘has never been severed’ because the families would remain intrinsically connected forever.

She clarified that her largest misunderstanding was believing this woman to be a member of this family. Essentially, it wasn’t just accepting Trey, but also Sheree who came with the deal, she explained.

As a dedicated follower, I’ve found myself sharing a unique bond with another woman, born out of our shared journey as parents. At first, we clashed due to differing views on child-rearing, but over time, we managed to find common ground and grew closer, eventually considering each other as cherished friends.

A notable show of familial bonding was evident recently, given the enigmatic nature that persists around Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith’s partnership.

2020 saw Jada confessing to an extended relationship with musician Alsina, which took place while she and Will were temporarily apart.

In a later confession, he acknowledged his involvement in extramarital relationships. Then, towards the end of 2023, Jada explained that their separation extended as far back as 2016. However, she emphasized that they don’t currently plan to file for divorce.

The surprising revelation about Will and Jada’s troubled marriage, to some extent, fueled the intense backlash from fans when he was caught dancing flirtatiously with the Spanish singer India Martínez, aged 39, during their performance of First Love at the Premio Lo Nuestro award show in Miami on February 20.

During their performance, the duo grew quite affectionate, wrapping arms around each other and it seemed like they exchanged a passionate kiss. Meanwhile, Smith gently touched Martinez’s lower back.

Additional unguarded photos from behind the scenes show Martinez leaping into Smith’s embrace and encircling his torso with her legs.

The show left spectators speechless, prompting them to criticize the rapper for what they deemed as ‘unsuitable’ and ‘poor’ conduct.

One person commented: ‘This is terrible,’ while another posted: ‘It’s unacceptable, even if it’s supposed to be “fun”.’

Others wrote: ‘It’s like someone’s dad’s on the karaoke with a drunk local woman.’ 

‘It’s how Will forgot where he was and went to put his arms around her.’

others argued for the actor’s forgiveness, asserting that he earned a ‘blank check of absolution’ following Pinkett-Smith’s confession about her affair with family acquaintance August Alsina in 2020.

As a die-hard fan, I can’t help but express my thoughts: “It’s hard to believe they aren’t feeling the heat when Jada has repeatedly humiliated this man in public! C’mon, it’s getting obvious now.

‘Let that man live he’s been put through enough, damn. TR.’

‘Good for Will! He deserves to live life to the fullest, Jada did him dirty.

This fellow is an actor, often playing roles that involve kissing various women, none of whom are his wife. It’s part of his professional duties as an entertainer, paid for by his work.

Apart from his usual attire, he chose to perform bare-chested, displaying his physique proudly in a white tee shirt. This was a follow-up to his open discussions about his health and fitness transformations over the past few years. Interestingly, just last year, the actor admitted that he had found himself in the poorest physical condition of his life post-lockdown, having fluctuated with weight gains and losses for various film roles.

According to People, it has been shared that the actor from I Am Legend, Will Smith, and his wife, Jada, are currently living independently but still maintain some form of connection.

The source casually remarked, “Feel free to label it as you see fit.” Simultaneously, a different insider disclosed that the couple, who tied the knot in 1997, remain united, although they’ve maintained separate residences for quite some time.

After Jada revealed in 2023 that they had been apart for seven years, starting from 2016, the duo has since been focusing on rebuilding their relationship.

In 2023 it was reported that Jada has her own house nearby to Will in Calabasas.

According to the initial report, Smith appears to feel somewhat disappointed by Hollywood currently. However, things might take a turn for the better if he experiences some fresh victories.

She mentioned that they haven’t yet decided on a long-term course for their marriage, stating instead that they’re still working things out with Will.

During that particular year, she disclosed that there had been multiple separations between her and Will during their marriage. This revelation was made when she was a guest on the On Purpose with Jay Shetty podcast.

During the year 2021, as detailed in their memoir titled Will, the actor expressed that at certain points in their marriage, they and their partner were both deeply unhappy. It seemed clear that a transformation was necessary.

After the well-known incident at the 2022 Oscars where Will slapped Chris Rock, Jada eventually shared how they managed to reconnect later on.

The incident occurred when Rock joked about Pinkett Smith’s bald head, leading Will to storm the stage, strike the host, and exclaim “Respect my wife’s name!” in a heated manner.

She informed Extra, ‘In that instance, I realized beyond any doubt that I would always stand by Will’s side from then on, having believed otherwise for so long.’

Funny isn’t it, how trying times can make love grow stronger? It was indeed tough for us, yet it somehow brought us even closer together. Quite remarkable, the way life unfolds sometimes.

In a conversation with Daily Mail’s YOU Magazine, Pinkett Smith expressed that several favorable outcomes emerged following Smith’s slap on Rock.

After so many years pondering whether I might depart from Will, it was that slap that made me realize I could never part ways with him. It’s hard to say where our relationship might have ended up if that incident hadn’t transpired.

Following Jada’s public discussion on their marital issues, Will added his thoughts on the matter as well.

In an email made public in the New York Times, he stated that her remarks about their relationship served as a wake-up call for him. He also emphasized that she exhibited traits of resilience, intelligence, and kindness beyond what he had initially perceived.

Alongside them came their two children, Jaden (age 26) and Willow (age 24), in addition to Trey, Will’s elder son from his previous marriage with Sheree Zampino, who is 32 years old.

Jada’s mother Adrienne Banfield-Norris was also present. 

In 2020, Jada’s marriage to Will faced intense public scrutiny following an interview she conducted with him on her talk show, Red Table Talk. During the interview, they discussed an affair Jada had four years prior with Alsina, who is significantly younger than her.

Her split from Will happened in the same year that she had the affair with August.

The rumor about Jada being romantically involved with August surfaced in 2020, yet both she and Will initially dismissed it, stating emphatically that the claims were entirely false.

On June 30 of that year, August openly confessed during an interview with radio host Angela Yee that he was in a romantic relationship with Jada, and that Will had given his approval.

In our recent chat, I had the pleasure of sitting down with Will, who’s undergoing a transition from married life to a life partnership. He graciously shared his thoughts on this change, expressing his approval by saying, “I gave him my blessings.

For what feels like aeons, I’ve poured my heart and soul into our bond, a connection that has consumed the best years of my existence. My affection for her is indescribable, an ocean so vast it threatens to drown me in its depths. I’ve dedicated myself wholly to this relationship, giving it my all, day by day, year after year.

I poured everything I had into it, such that if I were to pass away at this moment, I would be content knowing I completely devoted myself to someone. Many people never experience such selflessness in their lifetime. It wasn’t just close to killing me; it did – it transformed me into a different person. It shattered me.

Next month, Jada held a discussion with Will to clarify the speculations about their relationship status. As part of her Facebook Watch show, Red Table Talk, they decided to record the entire talk on camera.

Jada admitted that she had a complex relationship, or “tangle,” with August, while emphasizing that her union with Will had already ended at that point.

She told Will, “I’ve moved on.” Over time, I found myself in a new, complex situation with August.

Or:

She informed Will, “I’m no longer here.” As days passed, I became involved with August in a different way.

Yet, they refuted August’s assertion that Will had granted him approval to court Jada in their romantic endeavor.

Or, more casually: They didn’t buy August’s story about Will giving him the green light for his relationship with Jada.

Jada made it clear that she was the only one authorized to give permission in a specific situation, and she wanted to clarify any confusion about her granting such permission in media reports.

In essence, I believe August was attempting to clarify two things. First, since our separation was amicable, he may have perceived my response as tacit approval, which wasn’t the case. Secondly, he wanted to assure everyone that he isn’t a homewrecker, because he isn’t.

Jada clarified that they came to know August via their son Jaden, and she specifically remembered the artist (who would have been 23) was seriously ill at that time.

She clarified that it was initially about him seeking assistance, my desire to aid his wellbeing, both physically and mentally.

After Jada revealed her truth, Will acknowledged: ‘I had reached my limit with you.’ Jada then mentioned that they opted for a ‘temporary separation’.

‘And then what did you do, Jada?’ Will asked, as he urged his wife to keep talking.

‘As time went on, I got into a different type of entanglement with August,’ Jada explained.

When Will asked Jada to explain her use of the term ‘entanglement’, she replied: ‘Indeed, it was a romantic involvement.’

She went on saying, “I experienced immense discomfort and felt utterly shattered during that relationship. Through it all, I came to understand that true joy doesn’t lie in external sources.

Following Jada’s confession about her affair with the musician, certain remarks from Will caused audiences to ponder if he may have been involved in similar romantic entanglements before.

The Gemini Man star said the couple had ‘made mistakes without fear of losing’ their family.

As a dedicated admirer, I can tell you that our paths crossed at a tender age, each of us carrying our unique scars from life’s rough edges. The freedom to stumble and learn, knowing our bonds remain unshaken, is an absolute necessity, as he so wisely put it.

Some viewers also picked up on Jada’s contention that Will had already gotten his revenge.

”Make mistakes’ = cheat on one another. Let’s get reals,’ wrote one person on social media.

Another user tweeted, ‘Will Smith is managing this conversation without mentioning any of the women he’s been involved with since his relationship with Jada has been open.’

Following their collaboration on the 2015 movie Focus, speculations about a romantic involvement between Will and his co-star Margot Robbie have resurfaced, with these rumors tracing back to the time they worked together.

At the age of 23, Margot refuted rumors of an affair with Will, who was 45 at the time, following Star’s publication of their playful photos together.

In my latest observation, I found myself capturing an amusing moment between Will and Margot. From behind, I saw him affectionately draping his arm across her shoulders, all the while maintaining a jovial countenance for the lens.

In another image, Margot lifted her top to reveal her bra, as Will simultaneously raised his own shirt and pressed his chest against hers from behind.

Following the unveiling of those images, I found myself compelled to share: “I’ve been immersed in my work without pause, now taking a moment to breathe. The ludicrous rumor circulating has no basis in truth whatsoever…” Further elaborating, “It’s unfortunate that playful antics during filming could be misconstrued so drastically.

In 2015’s movie “Focus,” during the shooting, both actors captured images, with Will portraying a seasoned swindler mentoring a novice trickster, played by Margot.

Will and Margot worked together again on DC’s Suicide Squad (2016).
