Bristol Palin Turns to Extreme Treatment for Facial Paralysis Recovery

On a recent post, Bristol Palin expressed that she’s prepared to undergo an extreme therapy option in her ongoing struggle against facial paralysis, providing followers with another health-related update on Monday.

In simpler terms, we can say that the 34-year-old girl, who is the daughter of the ex-governor of Alaska and a former vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin, shared that she has not regained any facial muscle function, approximately seven weeks since her health problem started.

In a car video she posted on Instagram Stories, Bristol took off her sunglasses and tried, but couldn’t manage, to close both eyes due to her persisting facial palsy.

Here I am, on day 49, and still no signs of muscle movement. It’s hard to comprehend that over a month has passed since this madness began, but here we are.

The ex-contestant from Dancing with the Stars stated, “I’ve exhausted all possibilities, tested every solution, taken every action – yet none have led to any noticeable improvement.

I’ve been considering giving this unusual nerve block a shot. It seems to involve blocking some nerves in your neck. I’ve heard some positive testimonials about it, so I’m intrigued and willing to give it a try. My patience is wearing thin, so I’m eager to find relief as soon as possible.

‘Seven weeks. Day 49. Hopefully something changes soon,’ she added.

In response, Bristol posted a picture of herself and her friend grinning, captioned, ‘Oh, how eagerly I look forward to laughing again.’

According to the National Library of Medicine, nerve block therapies can ease pain and handle problems such as facial muscle twitches (spasms) and abnormal movements (dystonia) that are often connected to facial paralysis.

Just last month, Bristol shared a new development and disclosed her feelings of apprehension regarding the path that lies ahead, detailing her attempts to address the problem using various strategies.

In a video shared on her Instagram Stories, she said, “By remaining quiet, it’s less apparent.” On the 35th day, we’ve reached the official five-week mark since the left side of her face became paralyzed.

Despite my best efforts over the past 35 days, I haven’t noticed any improvement in muscle movement on my left side. It remains quite numb, with little sensation. I’ve explored various possible solutions, but I’m at a loss as to what else I could try. Daily exercises and treatments have been part of my routine during this time, yet, so far, nothing seems to be working.

Bristol shared, “I’m unsure about what lies ahead, but here’s the latest news. It’s day 35, and unfortunately, there’s still no sign of muscle movement.

The treatments Bristol had been attempting included acupuncture.

She posted a picture (selfie) from one of the meetings, revealing numerous pins (needles) scattered across her face.

‘I have been going 4 times/week,’ she wrote in the photo.

In early January, Bristol shared on a social media site that medical professionals suspected she could be suffering from Bell’s Palsy – a condition characterized by temporary facial muscle weakness or paralysis – due to a battery of tests conducted following her symptomatic presentation.

9 days ago, I awoke with an unusual feeling in my face. My mouth seemed to be slightly tilted to the left, and it felt somewhat awkward. Over the next few hours, the entire left side of my face became numb and immobile, as I recalled saying at that time.

She said she couldn’t blink her eye and ‘definitely had no movement on the side of [her] face.’

Many well-known individuals such as George Clooney, Angelina Jolie, former contestant of ‘The Bachelorette’ Emily Maynard Johnson, and legendary wrestling commentator Jim Ross have previously been diagnosed with Bell’s palsy in the past.

Bristol has three kids – a 16-year-old son named Tripp (with former partner Levi Johnston), and two daughters, Sailor Grace, aged nine, and Atlee Bay, who is seven, from her previous marriage to Dakota Meyer.

In 2008, Bristol gained significant attention on a national scale due to her mother’s vice-presidential bid, which was paired with the Republican presidential nominee, the late Senator John McCain from Arizona.

In September 2008, she attended the Republican National Convention with Johnston. At that time, she was pregnant with Tripp, which drew significant media attention since she was only 17. This event took place during her mother’s rapid ascendancy to political significance as McCain’s vice presidential candidate.

After the campaign, their relationship with Johnston continued to be a topic of public interest, as they had two more events together before ultimately separating permanently.

Bristol consistently shares updates about her facial palsy on social media platforms, having earlier debunked speculations that it stemmed from the COVID-19 vaccine, Botox treatments, or lip injections.

‘I’ve seen so much speculation about what this is caused by,’ she said last month.

Bristol stated, “A lot of individuals are attempting to place the blame on the Covid vaccines. It’s important to note that I myself have not received the Covid vaccine, likely due to my mother’s strong opposition to it during the pandemic.

She also dismissed suggestions it was caused by Botox or lip fillers.

The former Dancing with the Stars contestant openly stated that it has been quite a while since she last received lip fillers, hinting at her past usage by gesturing towards her lips.

‘I haven’t done that in a long time too, so, I don’t think it’s caused by those.’

In my expertise, I’ve come to understand that stress can trigger Bell’s Palsy. Given my current high-stress levels and less than optimal sleep patterns, this insight is particularly enlightening for me. It’s quite straightforward; the symptoms I’m experiencing might very well be a result of this condition.
