G2 vs NAVI Preview
In the Group stage 2 of ESL Pro League Season 21, both teams G2 and NAVI have each won two out of their three matches. Both squads are brimming with offensive potential, and the seasoned players on each team compensate for any weaknesses they may have. So far, G2 has triumphed against paiN Gaming and SAW, while suffering a single loss to TheMongolZ, who had already qualified for the playoffs at the time of this writing. On the other hand, NAVI has emerged victorious against paiN and TYLOO, but also lost to SAW.
Earlier this year, G2 brought on board HeavyGod, a newcomer tasked with some big boots to fill, stepping into the role previously held by NiKo. However, so far, HeavyGod has found it challenging to help the team replicate last year’s success. This season, G2 has managed to secure a top four spot at the BLAST Bounty Spring 2025 and finished in the 9-12th place at the IEM Katowice 2025. The team’s performance at IEM Katowice, which featured many of the top teams, underscores their current standing.
NAVI – Consistent but not enough
Over the course of this year, NAVI have been remarkably consistent, consistently finishing within the top four at both the BLAST Bounty Spring 2025 and IEM Katowice 2025 tournaments. Their only loss during IEM Katowice 2025 was to Team Spirit, a team currently ranked among the best in the esports scene.
Initially, NAVI struggled in the ESL Pro League, suffering a 1-2 defeat at the hands of SAW. They dropped matches on Nuke and Ancient. On Inferno, they had a promising start with a 13-3 lead, but they failed to curb SAW’s aggressive T-side play, eventually losing the match. The CT side performance on Nuke was dismal for NAVI, as they only managed three rounds, including one pistol round. On Ancient, they didn’t secure a single round on the CT side.
The team recovered in their following games against paiN and TYLOO. They managed a tough 2-0 win over paiN, with the latter putting up a strong fight against NAVI. TYLOO secured a win on Inferno, but that’s one of their strongest maps due to their well-rehearsed strategies giving them an edge in multiple rounds. Now, NAVI is just one win away from reaching the playoffs.
G2 – HeavyGod and mONESY
Simultaneously, HeavyGod from G2 Esports has shown up in critical scenarios, leveraging his keen awareness of the game environment to capitalize on his strategic positioning. During their recent clash with TheMongolZ, although they ended up losing, the young talent and latest recruit displayed some outstanding moments of skill.
As a gamer, I’m geared up for the ESL Pro League, knowing that MONESY, the young gun from G2 Esports, is our key to victory. He’s been tearing it up in Counter-Strike this year, making him one of the top performers. If he brings his A-game, we could definitely shake things up and even contend for the win.
Now, I don’t want to sound too optimistic, but if we fall short in this event, we’ve got what it takes to rattle some of the more seasoned teams out there. It’s going to be a tough fight, but we’re ready!
MONESY has maintained a 1.58 rating across seven maps in the ongoing tournament, making him our second-best player behind donk. His contributions have been crucial to G2’s success thus far. It’ll be intriguing to observe how G2 fares in this competition, whether MONESY is playing at his best or not.
