Camilla Thurlow’s Heartfelt Announcement: Daughter Nora Diagnosed with Autism at Two

Camilla Thurlow has announced that her daughter Nora has been diagnosed with autism.

Previously on Love Island, the 35-year-old star now has a family of five: daughters Nell (age 4) and Nora (2), along with their son Brodie (9 months). They are all happily raised together with Jamie Jewitt as their husband.

She openly discussed her middle child, Nora, taking longer to learn to walk and talk, and has lately disclosed that Nora is on the autism spectrum.

Autism involves challenges in social interaction and communication, such as interpreting social signals and emotional expressions correctly.

On Sunday, Camilla shared a touching message on Instagram, revealing that Nora got diagnosed with autism back in February.

She commended her daughter for her resilience, expressing heartfelt appreciation that she and Jamie feel incredibly blessed to be her parents, while gratefully acknowledging the support of her family and friends.

She wrote: “Dearest Nora, our sweet angel. It frequently crosses my mind to ponder the nature of your life, as you rise each day to confront tasks that prove challenging for you. This is not all, for it also appears that tasks which others around you seem effortless to handle are part of your daily struggle.

For each achievement still ahead or those that might not come our way, always persevere, radiating smiles and brimming with affection.

Displaying persistence in tackling challenging tasks with poise and a positive attitude is a skill that many, including myself, have strived to acquire over a long period.

Indeed, that inner power lies dormant within you, and you tap into it each day without fail. Therefore, we’ll certainly celebrate your significant achievements, but our pride in you is unwavering.

Last month, you were diagnosed with autism, which brings some genuine challenges your way. As parents, we understand that we need to evolve to provide the best support possible for you. We aim to equip you with the skills to navigate complex situations, empower you to establish boundaries that suit you, and ultimately, help you lead a joyful life where you can truly express yourself.

As a lifestyle guide, I recognize your unwavering pursuit for positivity amidst life’s challenges. Rest assured, I’ll walk this journey alongside you, offering support so that sunshine continues to penetrate even the darkest of days.

We’re deeply appreciative for being Nora’s parents, and for the mutual love that you and your siblings show. Our gratitude also extends to everyone who has offered and continues to provide their support to Nora and our entire family.

Previously, Camilla has shared about Nora’s progress that was a bit delayed in terms of walking and talking. She utilized Instagram to celebrate these milestones as they happened.

Last February, Camilla disclosed that Nora had begun crawling, expressing her personal concerns and apprehensions about Nora’s developmental milestones at the time.

In her article, Camilla expressed gratitude towards the NHS health visitors for their assistance throughout her growth process, which she described as a long and challenging voyage. She also shared that Nora was currently undergoing physical therapy.

On the NHS website, it’s indicated that infants typically begin crawling between five to eight months, and by the age of 18 months, most infants are able to walk.

In her recent update, she shared: ‘Our dear Nora took a significant step last week, as she managed to crawl for the first time at the age of 20 months.’

This lengthy path has been traversed by her, yet she possesses an exceptionally amiable disposition and manages to tackle any obstacles gracefully, maintaining a consistent air of joy whenever she encounters other children frolicking nearby or simply content with the plaything at hand.

She only becomes truly irritated when she tries to approach us for a hug, but witnessing her self-satisfaction after months of effort and seeing how pleased she is with herself is simply wonderful!

It’s likely that many people would agree when I say that raising a baby at one’s own pace might occasionally bring about feelings of self-doubt and concern.

On numerous occasions, I’ve found myself questioning whether I’m on the correct path or if perhaps there are better ways to assist Nora. I’ve also had doubts about my effectiveness in providing the appropriate support for her needs.

I’m incredibly thankful for the dedicated NHS Health Visitors who have visited us, offered their support, and ensured that Nora receives appointments with all necessary professionals. Additionally, we appreciate the assistance provided by Nora’s wonderful nursery in supporting her physical therapy on days she attends there.

Additionally, a heartfelt thanks goes out to Nell, Nora’s most dedicated supporter. She consistently finds ways to motivate and assist Nora, displaying remarkable patience during moments when our attention is divided between them.

She concluded her post with this message: “We’re so proud of you, wonderful Nora! The world might hold endless possibilities, but remember, you decide the pace. Just keep a smile on your face throughout your journey. That’s what truly matters to us, and we’ll always be there, ready to guide you towards wherever you aspire to go.

As a lifestyle enthusiast, I can confidently say that Camilla and Jamie have truly shone as standout figures in the Love Island universe. Having met during their time on ITV2’s popular dating show, they’ve proven themselves to be one of its most enduring success stories, coming just shy of taking the top spot from Amber Davies and Kem Cetinay.

In May 2020, the pair declared they would be having their initial child, and in October of the same year, they brought baby girl Nell Sophia into their lives.

In the month of February, 2021, Jamie expressed his proposal by dressing Nell in a charming onesie that read “Mummy, will you marry my Daddy?

In September 2021, the couple officially got married at Gosfield Hall in Essex, and Marcel Somerville, their fellow actor, was present at the ceremony.

Last December brought the exciting news that my partner and I were anticipating the arrival of our second child. Fast forward to May 2022, and we joyfully welcomed our little one, Nora, into our family.

On May 8, 2024, Camilla and Jamie joyfully welcomed their third child, a son named Brodie, into their family. They shared this wonderful news via Instagram at that time.
