Retro Royale is coming to Clash Royale on March 12, 2025
To recap, the Retro Royale event is set to rekindle the 2017 Clash Royale atmosphere! This exciting event will take place from March 12 to March 26, 2025. A unique gameplay mode is included in this event where you can exclusively utilize cards that were part of the game in 2017.
Could it be that Retro Royale makes a comeback, just for a limited time as a tournament-style ladder system? 🤯
Imagine stepping back in time to 2017, from March 12 through March 26! 🎉

Keep in mind that currently, this setup is only a Temporary return; there’s no definite word on it becoming permanent yet. However, what makes this intriguing is that it allows players to enjoy the game as it was initially released in 2017. This means there will be no Champions, Evolutions, or any of the latest mechanics to disrupt the original gaming experience.
As a gamer, I’m excited to share that out of the original 120 cards, only 80 OG cards will be in play. This means we’re going back to basics, reminiscing about the good old days when there were no fancy tower skins or arena changes. And guess where the matches will take place? Right in the heart of the OG arena itself! Though it may look a bit plain, the nostalgia it brings is priceless.
Retro Royale brings both the Casual and Competitive modes
The game offers two distinct playstyles: Relaxed and Serious. In the Relaxed mode, you’re free to enjoy the game without any limitations. To unlock the Serious mode, you must win a total of 30 matches first. A ranking system will be in place to showcase the top performers, allowing you to compare your progress with others.

As you move forward, you’ll collect prizes such as Season Tokens, Gold, and Chests. But remember, there’s no limit to the levels you can reach, so cards of a higher level will hold more power.
Or simply:
As you advance, you’ll gather rewards like Season Tokens, Gold, and Chests. There’s no limit on how high you can level up, so cards with a greater level will be stronger.
In the current game environment, you’re likely to encounter a good deal of decks featuring Giant, Pekka, Bridge Spam, Golem, and Log Bait strategies. It appears I may opt for a similar setup myself. As the game dynamics shift, other players could invent fresh twists on traditional decks to stay competitive.
