Love and Deepspace announces ‘face verification’ feature for China server
Story Highlights
- Love and Deepspace being a Chinese game has strict Chinese regulations and laws to follow
- Anti-minor laws are now rampant in the country and as such Infold Games are also taking precautions
- The face verification feature is only available in the CN version of the game
As a devoted gamer, I’ve been thrilled with the captivating worlds created by Infold Games, makers of the beloved Nikki and Mr. Love series. Recently, there’s been buzz about their upcoming steps for their immersive free-to-play otome game, Love and Deepspace. Given the Chinese gaming industry’s stringent regulations, it’s no surprise that Infold Games is taking measures to ensure a safe and controlled environment, especially for younger gamers. Their latest move involves implementing face verification, demonstrating the government’s commitment to tightening control over underage gaming activities.
Love and Deepspace: CN Server adds Face Verification to prevent minors from playing the game
From April 2025 onwards, Love and Deepspace will implement a ‘facial recognition’ system to enhance security measures beyond the current email and password authentication procedure.
A Reddit user from the “Love and Deepspace” community has recently shared an unpolished interpretation of recent events in the Chinese version of the game, as reported by a Chinese news outlet.
Love and Deepspace in China will launch ‘face verification’ feature in April 2025. This feature adds an extra layer to the existing real-name authentication process.

As a follower of gaming rules, I find this new development equally fascinating and troubling. On one side, it seems logical. After all, LaDS is an adult-only game, and repeatedly, children have managed to bypass these restrictions. However, this facial recognition system appears to be a promising solution to prevent such occurrences.
If a user is marked for additional confirmation, they’ll have to undergo a facial identification scan. If they fail five times in a row, their login attempt will be blocked.
As a responsible gamer, I make sure to implement measures that only allow adults with verified accounts to access our games. I firmly believe in upholding age restrictions, ensuring minors under the age of 18 are prevented from gaining entry.
This move is consistent with China’s ongoing efforts to combat excessive gaming among underage individuals. Over time, the nation has implemented stringent anti-addiction regulations, including restricting minor’s gaming sessions to a maximum of 90 minutes per day during the week, and up to three hours on weekends and holidays.
Furthermore, within the game, there should be prompts reminding players of regulations and assessments to maintain compliance. Since Love and Deepspace is already classified as an adult game in China, this measure isn’t about limiting playtime, but rather preventing minors from gaining access altogether.
As a devoted admirer, I get where folks are coming from when they view this decision as wise. Truth be told, Love and Deepspace isn’t your typical family board game. Given its mature themes, it’s not surprising that the creators want to restrict play to adults only – it makes perfect sense for maintaining an appropriate gaming environment.
However, considering the technical aspect, I do harbor some doubts. The facial recognition technology, despite advancements, is still imperfect. A slight misalignment, inadequate lighting, or unusual angle might lead to excluding genuine individuals. Additionally, we should not overlook the potential privacy issues associated with it.
As a devoted fan, I haven’t encountered any announcements about the implementation of facial recognition in the global edition of our favorite game just yet. The game continues to maintain its +12 rating across various app stores, which suggests that it may still be some time before such features become available.
