Russell Crowe continues to maintain a strong bond with his former spouse, Danielle Spencer, even though their marriage legally concluded in 2018.

They separated in 2012, following nine years of wedlock, and officially divorced six years afterwards.

During their time together, the couple welcomed two sons: Charlie, 21, and Tennyson, 18.

And it appears that Danielle, 55, is still very much concerned with her ex-husband’s wellbeing.

At the latest AACTA awards, Russell looked slim and cheerful, with sources suggesting that his positive attitude stems from spending more time in Australia, an opportunity presumably fostered by Danielle.

Danielle’s good friend shared with New Idea that Russell, aged 60, continued to be a significant presence in Danielle’s thoughts regarding her singing career.

‘Danielle’s probably already saved his life several times over,’ the insider revealed.

It’s undeniable that Russell is growing older, and for quite some time now, Danielle has had concerns about his self-care not being as optimal as it could be.

The source stated that Danielle significantly contributed to making it possible for the Gladiator actor to spend a substantial amount of time at home with his kids.

They mentioned that she suggested he should spend more time near home, as she believes he is mentally and physically healthier when he’s in Australia, close to his sons.

‘Overseas, when he’s busy working, he tends to neglect his own wellbeing.’  

Danielle also finds the time to focus on her musical career and recently made a comeback.

Last weekend, the pop artist took the stage at the Sydney Mardi Gras, which caters to the LGBTQ+ community. This appearance came shortly after she released her first single in 14 years titled “Regenerate.

According to the source, Russell appeared excited about the possibility of Danielle performing on stage once more.

‘Russell is thrilled for her,’ the source said.

He is aware that Danielle paused her own professional journey to maintain family harmony as he visited film sets globally. Now, it’s her time to take center stage.

Previously, Danielle has shared insights about the distinctive parenting partnership she shares with Russell regarding their boys.

2022 saw the actress and singer confirming to Daily Mail Australia during the premiere of Russell’s movie “Poker Face” in Sydney that they remain close friends, making it a point to spend quality time with each other.

She said, “We get together whenever it works out. Our family isn’t united all the time, so when we do manage to spend time together, it’s really special.

‘But I have my life going on and he has his life going on,’ she added.

In 2020, Danielle shared that she’d kept a friendly bond with Russell after they parted ways, many years prior.
