Aimee Lou Wood’s “daft” but “delightful” BBC show gets exciting look at returning season
Daddy Issues season 1 spoilers follow.
The upcoming second season of Aimee Lou Wood’s BBC comedy series, “Daddy Issues,” has received an intriguing glimpse.
The series debuted the previous year, centering around the character of Gemma, portrayed by Wood, who finds herself living with her father Malcolm, played by David Morrissey, in a shared apartment, after discovering she’s expecting a child.
Fresh snapshots for season 2 reveal images of Gemma propelling a stroller, whether it’s her actual newborn daughter Sadie or a doll replica, since she delivered her in the finale of season 1.
The new episodes are set to look at the new family dynamic after the baby’s birth.
Last year’s release of “Daddy Issues” garnered critical acclaim, maintaining a perfect score of 100% on Rotten Tomatoes. The Guardian‘s Lucy Mangan praised it as “silly, truthful, amusing, and subtly melancholic” in a four-star review.
Camilla Long from The Times expressed that the show was a genuine delight, whereas Emma Loffhagen of The Standard described it as an incisive, sugary, and persistently humorous exploration of parenthood, female camaraderie, and midlife turbulence.
Last September, it was announced that the second season, consisting of six episodes, for the show titled “Daddy Issues” was set to occur. At that time, Wood expressed his excitement by saying: “Working on Daddy Issues has been the most enjoyable experience I’ve had at work and I can’t wait to do it all over again!
I can hardly wait to find out what Danielle Ward has planned for Malcolm, Gemma, Sadie, and their group. I have a feeling it’ll be both laugh-out-loud funny and tear-jerkingly touching.
Ward exclaimed, “Another series? I find that hard to believe after reading this announcement! I’m simply overjoyed to be working with Aimee, David, and the whole talented ensemble once more.
I’m really fond of the Moscrips and I’m eagerly anticipating more of their thrilling escapades. A brief pause would be pleasant, but I can always regrow my hair, correct?
Initially gaining recognition through his role in Netflix’s “Sex Education,” he is now appearing in the third installment of “The White Lotus” portraying the character, Chelsea.
Daddy Issues is available to stream on BBC iPlayer and airs on BBC Three.
