Rancho Humilde, Sony will collaborate on music label’s feature film debut ‘Clika’
Rancho Humilde is going Hollywood.
On Tuesday, Jimmy Humilde’s record label, which he leads, revealed their partnership with Sony Pictures and Sony Music Latin for the launch of the movie “Clika.” Directed by Michael Greene, this film follows a musician’s struggle to preserve his family’s musical heritage. The film is set to hit theaters on August 5th through Columbia Pictures, which is owned by Sony.
In this upcoming movie, Jay Dee – the lead singer of Herencia de Patrones – will be one of the stars. His band released their first album “Pa Las Vibras” on the Rancho Humilde label in 2019. Joining Jay Dee in the film are experienced actor Eric Roberts, rapper OhGeesy, and others including Cristian Gutierrez, Laura Lopez, Nana Ponceleon, and Uziel Pantoja.
L.A. Influential
Originating from Jimmy Humilde and two companions, Rancho Humilde took shape as a haven for traditional Mexican ballads blended with the street-smart vibe of American gangsta rap and trap music.
According to a statement from Humilde, shared by Billboard, this movie marks the beginning of an exciting new phase offering numerous chances and visibility for Mexican-American artists in Hollywood. Previously working behind the scenes, we’re now moving center stage, eager to demonstrate our true talents and potential.
In the very same statement, Sanford Panitch, President of Sony Pictures Motion Picture Group, commended Humilde’s past projects, expressing that “Jimmy is an innovative producer whose revolutionary methods have redefined the sound of Mexican music.” He further stated, “His substantial impact in the realm of music paves the way for fresh voices, unique narratives, and potential movie stars.
Music
Rancho Humilde Records, based out of Downey, is leading the charge in Latin music innovation by transforming traditional Mexican ballads (corridos) into modern hip-hop styles.
In 2011, Humilde, along with friends José “JB” Becerra and Roque “Rocky” Venegas, officially launched Rancho Humilde Music Label. Their goal was to modernize the traditional regional Mexican music scene for a new, more culturally diverse audience.
The record label showcases musicians whose cultural background is embodied not only in corridos, the raw Mexican ballads recounting the tales of street hustlers, immigrants, or everyday people battling to survive, but also in the rhythms and styles of their preferred American rappers. This unique fusion is often referred to as “tumbao corridos” or “trap corridos.” The label, which has gained significant prominence, houses the renowned group Fuerza Regida and popular artist Natanael Cano. Additionally, it has collaborated with other prominent figures in the industry like Bad Bunny, Snoop Dogg, and Steve Aoki.
Last year, Humilde shared with The Times that they are creating an atmosphere – our language, our style, our music – and it’s quite trendy.

Starting from 2015, Fuerza Regida has consistently demonstrated a high level of dedication within the realm of Mexican music. With their eighth studio album titled “Pero No Te Enamores,” the band is pushing boundaries and advancing the style of música Mexicana.
