Alec Baldwin should testify in ‘Rust’ wrongful death suit, Gloria Allred says
One week following the premiere of Alec Baldwin and his wife’s TLC reality show, lawyer Gloria Allred called for Baldwin to appear in court for a wrongful death case connected to the “Rust” shooting incident.
In October 2021, Halyna Hutchins – a cinematographer for the film “Rust” – tragically lost her life after being accidentally shot with a gun belonging to actor Alec Baldwin while they were rehearsing a scene on the movie’s set. Now, Allred, who is a family representative of Halyna, is involved in one of multiple civil lawsuits that have been delayed due to the dismissal of New Mexico’s criminal investigation into Baldwin.
In July, a judge in New Mexico threw out all criminal accusations against the 66-year-old actor due to claims that the special prosecutor and officers from the Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Department, who handled the investigation of the accidental shooting incident, withheld crucial evidence.
Later on, Baldwin took legal action against New Mexico authorities, alleging malicious prosecution. Additionally, he was involved in the production of a reality TV series that featured his wife, Hilaria, and their brood of seven little ones.
On Monday, Allred submitted a summons for testimony in Santa Fe, requiring Baldwin to appear for questioning in New York City on May 9th.
The lawyer representing the victims lamented that Alec Baldwin was appearing on a reality show while still dealing with unresolved legal issues related to the death of the 42-year-old cinematographer, who left behind a husband, son in the U.S., and family members in her homeland of Ukraine.

In the Baldwin involuntary manslaughter trial, the judge dropped the criminal charge following the uncovering of what appeared to be a deliberate attempt to hide possible evidence.
The TLC show, produced by the Baldwins, offers a peek into the turbulent yet luxurious lifestyle of the celebrated duo, their kids, and many beloved pets, providing viewers with an insider’s perspective.
The first episode, airing on February 23rd, portrays Baldwin emotionally distraught due to Hutchins’ passing. In this broadcast, he admitted experiencing symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder after the incident involving gunfire.
Life has taken an unexpected turn for Halyna and her family. Tragically, she passed away in an unfortunate incident, leaving behind a son who is now bereft of his mother. Hilaria Baldwin expressed these sentiments on the show, stating that this loss will forever leave a mark on them, becoming an integral part of their family’s history.

The portrayal of the Baldwins’ mourning in the series irritated Allred, who claimed that the show was oversimplifying the pain experienced by others, particularly the parents of Hutchins (Olga Solovey and Anatolii Androsovych), and her sister, Svetlana Zemko.
Did Alec Baldwin’s recent statements merely aim to present himself as the true sufferer in this incident?” This was the question posed by Allred in a statement. “It’s past time for Mr. Baldwin to acknowledge his actions, admit their consequences, and face the reality of the pain he inflicted on Halyna’s parents and sibling.
Baldwin’s attorneys were not immediately available to comment Tuesday.
As a passionate movie enthusiast, I’d like to share an incident that left me utterly shocked. In this unfortunate event, I, Alec Baldwin, have been under scrutiny regarding an accident on set. The film’s director, Joel Souza, was also injured in the shooting. Here’s what transpired: earlier that day, I was handed a prop gun by an assistant director, who assured me it was “cold” – meaning no live ammunition was inside.

On Sunday, TLC will air a reality show featuring Alec and Hilaria Baldwin, offering a glimpse into their personal lives while also addressing the ongoing manslaughter trial involving Alec in connection with an incident on a movie set.
At the Santa Fe trial, the defense attorneys for the actor aimed to divert attention from if Baldwin unintentionally pulled the trigger of his gun to a different crucial point: The origin of the fatal bullet.
The state’s argument fell apart when Baldwin’s lawyers alleged misconduct by the special prosecutor and sheriff’s deputies. They highlighted bullets that a potential witness had given to sheriff’s investigators a year ago, yet failed to share with Baldwin’s legal team.
In simpler terms, Judge Mary Marlowe Sommer of the New Mexico 1st Judicial District Court dropped the sole felony accusation against Baldwin.
Prior to her passing, Halyna Hutchins harbored plans to relocate her family from their conflict-ridden homeland to the United States.
2021 saw the debut of the movie “Rust” at a Polish film festival, however, as of now, no American distributor has agreed to distribute it.
Inmate Hannah Gutierrez, the weapons specialist from the movie set, has now served approximately one year of her 18-month sentence for involuntary manslaughter. A Santa Fe jury convicted her last March and she was subsequently incarcerated in a women’s correctional facility.
