Overwatch 2’s Jared Neuss leaves Blizzard and returns to Riot Games for VALORANT
At this point, I chose to part ways with Blizzard Entertainment, where I was serving as the Executive Producer for Overwatch 2. This choice wasn’t an easy one to make.
As a gaming enthusiast, I used to be the Executive Producer of Overwatch 2 at Blizzard Entertainment, but I’ve recently decided to return to my roots and join forces with the VALORANT team at Riot Games. This exciting move was announced via my LinkedIn post.
Jared Neuss leaves Overwatch 2
On the night of March 3, it was announced that Neuss has resigned from his position as executive producer for Overwatch 2. In a recent LinkedIn post, he reminisced about last month’s Overwatch 2 Spotlight event, where significant updates to the hero shooter were unveiled.
The updates encompassed the novel Perks system and the forthcoming Stadium gameplay option. As per Neuss’s statement, these innovations are the fruits of dedicated effort and insights gleaned from overseeing Overwatch 2 for two years as a live game.
He expressed that they aimed to reintroduce the finest aspects of the original Overwatch, all while innovating and introducing fresh, exciting changes to its fundamental mechanics, as he explained.
In a recent announcement, it was disclosed that Neuss had bid farewell to Blizzard with this event serving as his parting point. He expressed gratitude towards Team 4 for embracing his suggestions since the beginning, stating that he takes pride in the collaborative efforts of the Overwatch 2 team. For the record, Team 4 is the development team at Blizzard responsible for creating both Overwatch and Overwatch 2.
Jared Neuss rejoins Riot Games for VALORANT
As per his recent LinkedIn update, Neuss currently holds the position of Senior Game Production Director at Riot Games. Before joining Blizzard for Overwatch 2, he had previously served at Riot Games in the role of Production Director on a permanent basis.
This week, he began an exciting new journey… alongside familiar faces at Riot Games! He expressed his excitement about returning to the studio that played a significant role in shaping him into the game developer he is today. Moreover, he shared his eagerness to keep learning and progressing from the exceptionally talented team he’ll be collaborating with in the VALORANT Studio.
