The White Lotus‘ Alexandra Daddario has responded to criticism of her acting.

In the first season of the popular drama series, the actress portrayed Rachel – a journalist and shy spouse to the pompous and affluent Shane during their honeymoon phase. Her performance earned an Emmy nomination, yet it didn’t deter critics from delivering negative reviews.

In an interview with Elle, Daddario was inquired about the wildest gossip surrounding her, promptly responding: “The speculation that I’m a poor performer.

As for my acting skills, let me clarify: It’s not that I’m a poor actress, but perhaps the roles I’ve taken on haven’t fully highlighted my potential. You see, some of the projects I’ve been part of might not have showcased me in the best light, but trust me, there’s more to my acting abilities than what you’ve seen so far.

She replied, “The director and the script are crucial, and occasionally I may not be well-lit, but I’m no poor actress. I earned an Emmy nomination. What’s your take on how I managed that?

Initially gracing television screens with a role on All My Children during the late 1990s, Daddario has since made appearances in films such as Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief, its sequel, Baywatch, Texas Chainsaw, and True Detective. More recently, she plays the main character in the supernatural thriller series, Mayfair Witches.

In another part of the interview, Daddario was questioned about a role she regretted taking on, but tactfully chose not to reveal the specific production.

She shared that she has taken on several acting roles that she now wishes she hadn’t. In a delicate manner, she mentioned an indie film production where the outcome wasn’t favorable, acknowledging the effort put in by everyone involved.

There was an excessive amount of internal conflict, cast and crew members leaving the set, and overall disorder, which was a terrible experience for me. I can’t reveal the name, but I didn’t enjoy working on that project at all. It doesn’t matter if the movie turns out well, because what I dislike is arguments, and that was unfortunately quite prevalent.
