Queer Eye’s Bobby Berk lands first TV role since show exit

Queer Eye‘s Bobby Berk lands first TV role since leaving the Netflix show.

As a fervent admirer, I must share that the charismatic TV personality and interior design whiz, who once graced our screens on “Queer Eye” until its eighth season last year, has moved on to a new venture. He’s now starring in a cricket-centric comedy called “Strikers,” which he not only co-created but is also serving as an executive producer for.

According to Variety’s report, a six-episode series is set to spotlight Amar Farooqi, portrayed by co-creator Dana Abraham. After being forced to retire from Major League Baseball due to an injury, Farooqi experiences a resurgence when he is recruited to manage a floundering cricket team owned by a steel company. Simultaneously, this opportunity provides him with the chance to rediscover his South Asian roots.

In this production, Shaun Majumder takes on the role of AJ Joshi, a steel company heir, with Nazanin Mandi portraying his niece and publicist named Maya. Meanwhile, Berk plays Mickey, who is Amar’s hardworking yet well-connected manager.

Regarding the upcoming independent series, Berk stated, “The theme of this show revolves around unity – it’s all about appreciating the strength of working together, regardless of one’s origins.

As a kid, growing up as an immigrant in Canada, I found myself gravitating towards blending in rather than holding onto my Indian heritage. Now, this project presents me with a unique chance to reconnect with my roots, creating a tale that resonates universally yet remains profoundly personal.

Following his departure from “Queer Eye”, Berk dismissed speculations about a cast conflict, revealing that several members of the Fab Five had pondered over not re-signing their contracts initially, but eventually decided otherwise.

There were certainly feelings present, yet each of us had our individual motivations for our actions,” he explained. “I couldn’t stay angry – for a moment I was. The arrangements I had made assuming we wouldn’t return, I wasn’t ready to alter those… We had mentally prepared ourselves to leave – that’s why I departed.
