Michelle Trachtenberg Had Plans for Final Hollywood Event

Michelle Trachtenberg passed away this week at her home in New York City.

It has become known that the actress who played both Gossip Girl and Harriet The Spy, aged 39, intended to participate in a professional gathering on March 12.

At this year’s SXSW film festival in Austin, Texas, I was fortunate enough to be invited for a special appearance at the benefit screening of the captivating movie, Spyral.

She had undergone a liver transplant months before her sudden death. 

Jennifer Hutchins, a representative from Spyral Production, informed TMZ that the film crew was cognizant of Michelle’s health concerns and planned for her to participate in the event – either physically or digitally – only when she felt sufficiently well.

At last, Trachtenberg was chosen to recite passages from the deceased Michelle Cody White’s diary during the closing act.

2021 saw her recording the voiceover, however, the documentary’s debut was delayed until 2024 as a result of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, according to TMZ reports.

Additionally, the producer acknowledged the actress’ emotionally powerful portrayal in Spyral, mentioning that her vocal performances left many on set in tears.

As a devoted admirer, I, Danny Tamberelli – a former child actor at 43 years old – had the privilege of calling Michelle a cherished friend. In honor of her, I took time to express my deep respect and affection for her.

On a Wednesday post on Instagram, the former Nickelodeon actor (who co-starred with Trachtenberg in The Adventures of Pete & Pete) published two nostalgic images of them both.

In his narrative about their old friendship, he mentioned that they grew up mastering the art of making others laugh, but what truly mattered was learning to amuse each other and play harmless tricks on everyone.

In simpler terms, ‘We used to perform improvisational comedy, back then it was known as acting for laughter. She excelled at a game using clothespins, pinning anyone she could find. One time, she became irritated with me when I received my first bass guitar on set, because I didn’t want to socialize during lunch. She concealed the cable so I couldn’t play through the amplifier. In essence, she made it clear that I should spend more time socializing.’

He recalled that she was a radiant beacon, a sparkler, and a compassionate individual who tirelessly worked on behalf of those who required greater representation. This week, a representative for Michelle Trachtenberg shared the heartbreaking news with DailyMail.com: ‘We regretfully confirm Michelle Trachtenberg’s passing. Her family is asking for privacy during this difficult time. At present, we have no additional information.’

The police stated that they do not believe any wrongdoing led to her demise. Her relatives have declined an autopsy due to religious beliefs.

On Wednesday, the 26th of February, 2025, around 8:01 AM, the police were dispatched to 1 Columbus Place, which falls under the jurisdiction of the Midtown North Precinct, following an emergency call they received. This was stated in a police report.

When they arrived, officers found a 39-year-old woman who was unresponsive and not conscious. Emergency Medical Services (EMS) were called to the scene and declared the woman dead.

It appears no criminal activity is involved at this point. The Medical Examiner will ascertain the reason for the demise. The investigation continues.
