British pop star reveals surprising reason why he rejected Star Wars role

British singer-songwriter Jordan Stephens recently disclosed an unusual motive behind his decision to turn down a part in an imminent “Star Wars” series.

2016 saw the Rizzle Kicks rapper make an appearance in “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story,” portraying the character Corporal Stordan Tonc.

On TikTok, Stephens informed followers that he’s been requested to return to his role for a forthcoming season of the prequel series, Andor.

As reported by Stephens, known for featuring in series like “Catastrophe”, “Drunk History”, and “The Ex-Wife”, declined the part once requested to shave off his dreadlocks.

He shared on social media that he’s been invited to join a season of the show “Andor”. He isn’t sure which one it is yet. His character from “Star Wars: Rogue One”, Corporal Stordan Tonc, is supposed to make a comeback. That’s really thrilling news!

Even though it took him six years to mature, Stephens shared that he was required to shave his head for a single scene in the series Andor.

A week prior to the shoot, they inquired if they could see my appearance. I shared a photo with them, and their response was, “Could you consider cutting off your dreadlocks?” he reminisced.

They requested that I perform this action just for one scene. However, that’s completely unreasonable – it would be equivalent to growing my hair for six whole years and then chopping it all off for only one scene.

Stephen suggested a possible resolution, proposing that his character might don a helmet similar to the one he wore when initially introduced within the series.

I jokingly suggested, ‘Why can’t I sport a helmet like in Rogue One?’, only to hear, ‘We believe it wouldn’t be plausible.’ It seems that in our battle against slugs armed with laser guns, the idea of wearing a helmet is just too outlandish. Quite the irony!”

Or, more casually:

“I jokingly asked if I could wear a helmet like from Rogue One, and they said it wouldn’t be realistic. Can you believe that in a world with laser guns and slugs, wearing a helmet is too far-fetched? Talk about irony!

Andor season 2 will come to Disney+ on April 22, 2025.
