Selma Blair Fights Back Against MS with Boxing Legend Freddie Roach!

Selma Blair is engaging in a literal battle against Multiple Sclerosis (MS), joining forces with renowned boxing coach Freddie Roach.

The 52-year-old actress, who has talked about the past incident where singer Robbie Williams ended a date prematurely years ago, posted pictures and clips of herself boxing on Instagram.

She honed her skills under Roach’s tutelage at the renowned Wild Card Boxing Club in Los Angeles, a place where boxing great Manny Pacquiao also learned the ropes.

In a video shared by Blair, she’s seen sparring and striking poses alongside Roach and others, all set to the iconic theme from Rocky, over six years since she received her Multiple Sclerosis (MS) diagnosis.

I’m thrilled to express my gratitude to the outstanding Wildcard Boxing Club and Freddie Roach. The first day has begun, and my life is set to improve even more. It’s an honor to be here, truly.

Apart from that conversation, she also shared with US Weekly her reasons for entering the boxing ring recently, to kickstart her boxing training, which is often referred to as the ‘sweet science’.

She shared that she finds it wonderful, and despite being new to the field, she’s deeply committed and aiming to become an excellent combatant.

She added that she loves, ‘surprising people and surprising myself,’ before praising her trainer.

She remarked, “Freddie Roach is extraordinary, considering his fighting spirit and impressive accomplishments, especially in terms of his brain health.

She mentioned that simply being around him, drawing on his power, and gaining knowledge from an undeniable expert, was truly beneficial for her.

She went on to say, “It means everything to me just to have the chance to play as myself, and to genuinely enjoy what I’m doing. I think you understand that. We all secretly aspire to embody a bit more of Freddie Roach’s spirit.

The actress mentioned that she aims to maintain her fitness level and simultaneously improve her balance, coordinating her arm movements with the rest of her body as it grows stronger.

She mentioned that it’s essentially about endurance and making an effort to stay alert for everything on my agenda, she explained.

Besides discussing various topics, Blair also mentioned her 13-year-old son Arthur, whom she co-parents with Jason Bleick. She described him as a remarkably strong and resilient young man.

She mentioned that we’ve had a very close bond and often engaged in wrestling matches, as I sometimes took on the role of both parents, while her father assumed a similar dual role when he was with his partner.

She noted that he was quite firm with her, but his strength and abilities were incredibly inspiring.

Previously, I was more casual. However, now I’m committed to approaching this with sincerity. I wish to collaborate with those who have surpassed expectations, who are undeniably the finest in their respective fields,” Blair expressed.

She mentioned that she was someone who needed time to develop, and expressed, “I need to persist. It’s been truly motivating for me to think, ‘Yes, I can accomplish this.’ I’ve reached a point of safety, I’m currently free from relapse, and I’ve been at this stage long enough that I feel secure about not collapsing under pressure if I keep pushing myself. This is simply a sign of my confidence.
