Buffy’s Sarah Michelle Gellar shares touching tribute to co-star Michelle Trachtenberg

Sarah Michelle Gellar, known for her role as Buffy, has penned a heartfelt farewell in memory of her former screen companion, Michelle Trachtenberg, who sadly passed away at 39 years old.

Gellar posted images on Instagram featuring herself and Trachtenberg, accompanied by a heartfelt message reminiscent of Buffy’s season 5 finale, titled “The Gift.

In the show, Buffy, portrayed by Gellar, selflessly gives up her life to protect her little sister Dawn, who is acted by Trachtenberg.

Michelle, pay attention to me. Pay attention. I adore you. I will always cherish you, said Gellar’s tribute, starting off. “Navigating through this world can be challenging, but I will find the courage. I will persevere… for you.

Additionally, she shared the same images that included Seth Green from Buffy, Shannen Doherty from Charmed (both friends of hers), and Trachtenberg, on her Instagram Stories, with Sarah McLachlan’s ‘I Will Remember You’ playing in the background.

Joining other former Buffy co-stars, Gellar has also honored Trachtenberg, with Alyson Hannigan (famous for her character Willow) being among them.

Hannigan expressed deep sorrow upon hearing about Michelle’s death, which he shared on Instagram. Michelle always radiated warmth during our time together on the set of Buffy. My sympathies go out to Michelle’s loved ones at this difficult time.

Emma Caulfield, who played Anya, also shared a message following Trachtenberg’s passing.

As a devoted fan, I can’t help but express my deep sorrow that your shining star was snuffed out too soon. Our precious Buffy clan has suffered a grievous loss today… May you find eternal peace, dear Mish Mish. You were cherished beyond measure.

Despite never interacting on the set, Charisma Carpenter, famously known for her role as Cordelia in “Buffy,” extended a warm greeting to Trachtenberg, even though their characters didn’t share screen time during the three seasons she was part of the show.

In simpler terms, Carpenter posted on Instagram that he didn’t know Michelle as well as some other colleagues from Buffy, but it’s incredibly hard to witness someone so young, intelligent, attractive, and full of potential die. It’s truly heartbreaking.

I’d like to offer heartfelt sympathies to those who were closer to her than I – her colleagues, friends, family, and her partner (whom I have not had the privilege of meeting). My deepest condolences on your sorrowful loss.

It’s impossible to ignore the profound influence she’s had on her global fanbase. Her legacy will endure through her captivating performances and passion for storytelling. Farewell, Michelle, may you find peace wherever you are.

In addition to her character on Buffy, Trachtenberg also portrayed Georgina Sparks on Gossip Girl and its 2022 revival.
