Rick Springfield’s Shocking Confession About Acid
Rick Springfield has been consistently seeking solutions for the depression he’s experienced since his teenage years, having attempted suicide at the age of 17 and considering it as recently as age 68.
As a devoted admirer, I’ve had the opportunity to explore ketamine therapy at the age of 75, having won multiple Grammys. Unfortunately, it didn’t resonate with me greatly. The experience left me feeling unusually heavy and mechanical, rather than bringing about significant personal transformation.
‘I [microdosed] acid, and that was actually a little better,’ Rick told People on Thursday.
It’s been a long time since I last did that, reminiscent of my 20s, but the experience was exhilarating. I’m not advocating for drug usage, but I’m open to anything that could boost my happiness and personal growth. Honestly, I could use some assistance in improving those aspects of my life. I’m constantly seeking ways to grow.
Since reducing his alcohol intake two years ago after being arrested for DUI in Malibu in 2011, Richard Springthorpe (formerly known as Springfield) has been exploring alternative treatment methods. This incident occurred when he accepted a plea bargain for the lesser charge of reckless driving in his 1963 Corvette Stingray.
‘That has actually helped more than anything,’ the Jessie’s Girl hitmaker noted.
I used to consume alcohol quite frequently, and as one grows older, it seems like a natural phase to give up such habits. I’m not affiliated with Alcoholics Anonymous, though I recognize that it has been helpful for many individuals. I might take a few sips of vodka or similar beverages when performing, but I don’t drink alcohol at any other time.
Publicly sharing his struggles with depression has helped Rick ‘a lot.’
Springfield expressed that it’s important for individuals to realize they aren’t facing their struggles alone. He likened this sentiment to the shared sorrow felt when someone passes away, emphasizing its profound impact.
For four decades, the Australian-American musician’s partner, Barbara Porter, has been a constant source of encouragement. They have two sons together – Liam, an actor at 39 years old, and Joshua, a 36-year-old child therapist.
The musician from Australia and America gets a lot of help from his wife Barbara Porter, who has been with him for 40 years. They have two sons – Liam, who’s an actor, and Joshua, who works as a child therapist.
‘She’s been my rock, and I’ve been her rock,’ Rick explained.
Over time, she has been the foundation of our relationship, that much is certain. However, as we grow older, we sometimes find ourselves in troubled waters. At such times, it’s crucial for the other person to act as a lifeguard, rescuing us and bringing us safely back to shore.
In their disagreements, they often find themselves chuckling as their arguments frequently revolve around things they cherish deeply, such as their pet or children. Nevertheless, they invariably reconcile.
Springfield expressed that there have been challenging periods where we sought an additional conversation partner, and he strongly believes this is crucial.
If someone were to ask you the question, “What’s your secret to staying married?”, you might respond with a simple, “The key is just not getting divorced.” In essence, that’s about the gist of it.
Eminem, the artist behind the hit song “Lose Myself” and known for his 23rd studio album titled “Automatic,” which came out in 2023, is set to perform on March 19 at the Macon City Auditorium located in Macon, Georgia.
As a dedicated fan following Rick, who boasts an impressive 5.5 million monthly listeners on Spotify, I’m thrilled to share that our journey together begins with the launch of his “I Want My ’80s Tour” on May 29, right here in Florida. Joining him on this exciting 34-date extravaganza will be iconic acts like John Waite, Wang Chung, Paul Young, and John Cafferty. Let’s get ready to reminisce about the ’80s!
