Tragic Loss: Gossip Girl Star Michelle Trachtenberg Dead at 39 Under Mysterious Circumstances
Actress Michelle Trachtenberg, best known for her role on “Gossip Girl,” passed away from natural causes, possibly with some difficulties post-liver transplant, as suggested by information received from law enforcement officials to ABC News.
On Wednesday morning, around 8 a.m., the mother of the 39-year-old woman discovered her lifeless body in their apartment located near Columbus Circle, New York City.
Police told DailyMail.com that there is no foul play suspected in her death.
According to reports made to TMZ, the actress has recently received a liver transplant following her struggles with alcohol-related problems.
Her final outing was to Sartiano’s restaurant in SoHo last Thursday night.
The medical examiner’s office will perform an examination to determine precisely why the individual passed away.
‘On the 26th of February, 2025, around 8:01 AM, the police received an emergency call about someone needing assistance at 1 Columbus Place, which falls under the jurisdiction of the Midtown North Precinct, as they stated.’
As soon as they arrived, authorities found a 39-year-old woman who was unconscious and unresponsive. Emergency Medical Services (EMS) were called to the scene and declared the woman dead.
There’s no reason to suspect any criminal activity. The Medical Examiner will be determining the cause of death. We continue to investigate the case.
According to TMZ, the actress spent her last evening socializing with companions at Sartiano’s restaurant on Thursday night.
Trachtenberg gained significant recognition for her work on Buffy the Vampire Slayer, a supernatural drama series that aired on UPN between 2000 and 2003.
She played Buffy’s younger sister Dawn Summers in 66 episodes of the hit show.
Born and raised in Brooklyn, this individual also starred regularly as Georgina Sparks, the enigmatic ‘Witch of the Upper East Side’, in 28 episodes of the television series Gossip Girl on The CW network between 2008 and 2012.
She also appeared in the 1996 film Harriet the Spy alongside Rosie O’Donnell.
Over the past few years, I’ve found myself deeply concerned about Trachtenberg’s wellbeing, given some concerning social media posts that suggested she wasn’t doing so well. She appeared quite delicate in those messages.
