Lorde Drops Māori Language Single
The New Zealand-originated artist Lorde recently released a brand new single featuring the Māori language, in partnership with another New Zealander named Marlon Williams.
On Wednesday, the popular 28-year-old songwriter (known as Ella Yelich-O’Connor) shared a sneak peek of a fresh track titled “Kāhore He Manu E” with her followers on social media.
In the video, Lorde can be seen performing the gentle ballad in a studio.
The song appears on Williams, 34, new album Te Whare Tīwekaweka, which he recorded in Māori.
‘An honour to sing on Marlon’s beautiful waiata,’ she captioned her post.
She also shared a touching tribute to Williams in the Instagram share.

‘The love I have for our prodigal son knows no bounds—I consider him whanau,’ she began.
Witnessing Marly continually push beyond her limits, discovering the boundaries of her abilities and surpassing them repeatedly, enriches my life in countless ways.
‘Thank you for trusting me with this corner of your incredible album.’
As a devoted admirer, I found myself featured in a snapshot alongside Williams, capturing our collaborative moments during the studio sessions for the album.
In addition, Williams also expressed his gratitude towards Lorde on Instagram and disclosed the source of inspiration behind the song that he dedicates to a loved one.
‘It’s an absolute treat to be laying this one on your lap,’ he said.
As an ardent admirer, I can’t help but be captivated by this heartfelt melody that encapsulates the complexities of bonds and the struggle to maintain them amidst the unforgiving torture chamber of distance and elapsed moments. This is a song that speaks directly to my soul.
“Performing songs alongside Ella ranks among the most delightful experiences life has provided for me. In tribute to the memory of my cherished Nana, Rīpeka.”
(The aim here is to maintain the poetic tone while also making it more accessible and easier to read.)

In December, Lorde reappeared on her social media with just one post following the removal of all previous content.
The singer shared a rare bikini selfie as she sat in a Toyota car during a visit to New Zealand.
The image displayed Lorde seated inside the car, donned in a bold red-and-white striped strapless swimsuit top.
She added a pair of white jeans, as well as a cap with writing across the front and sunglasses.
In another photo, Lorde could be seen traveling by helicopter, once more wearing sunglasses, as she enjoyed an breathtaking landscape through the window.
In her caption, the Royals hitmaker simply added an emoji wearing sunglasses and a tree.
Similarly to Taylor Swift, the well-known pop artist, and more lately, Lorde, have used a mysterious method when hinting at upcoming album launches by posting enigmatic content on their social media platforms.
At the Boardmasters Festival held in England, the Grammy Award-winning composer premiered two fresh songs during her performance in the year 2023.
As reported by Vulture, the songwriter is believed to have performed two songs tentatively called Silver Moon and Invisible Ink. However, she subsequently refuted that these were indeed their final titles.
Contrary to what some fans speculated, Lorde made it clear via her Instagram posts that she wasn’t actively working on a significant new album at the moment.
‘I’m just letting you know that even though this might not be the beginning of something new, I have a glimmer within me that’s shining brightly.’
In response to a fan suggesting that she was deceiving her followers, she strongly reaffirmed her initial denial.
She wrote, ‘I’ve just made a decision to release these files from my computer… yet they’re not harmful, right?’
Lorde’s most recently-released album Solar Power made its debut in August of 2021.
