ITV’s “excellent” show compared with Line of Duty shares first look at returning season

ITV’s hit series “Malpractice” has unveiled a sneak peek of its upcoming second season, set to be broadcast this coming spring.

As a dedicated fan, I’m thrilled about the upcoming series that’s been likened to “Line of Duty” due to their shared production house. In this new season, we’ll delve into a chilling case of suspected medical negligence. Our favorite characters, Dr. Norma Callahan (Helen Behan) and Dr. George Adjei (Jordan Kouamé), are back on the case!

A series of stills have now been released from the episodes, which you can take a look at below.

In the initial run of the series, The Daily Telegraph commended it as “outstanding,” particularly highlighting Niamh Algar’s standout performance in season 1. On the other hand, The Times found it distinctive among medical dramas, indicating that it appears to have fresh insights to offer.

Malpractice is watchable, with strongly drawn characters,” added The Observer.

In the second run, I find myself, as a devoted fan, immersed in the storyline that revolves around Dr. James Ford (Tom Hughes), a psychiatric registrar who finds himself in a precarious situation. Balancing between conducting a postnatal check-up on a worried new mother and dealing with the sectioning of a mentally unstable patient, all while on duty, presents quite an intriguing dilemma for him.

Yet, the grim ending was unforeseen by all when Norma and George were summoned to examine the situation.

As a follower, it seems that Doctor Ford presents a complex personal image. I’ve noticed some suggest that he comes across as somewhat arrogant, yet there’s no denying his dedication to those who are most in need – the vulnerable patients.

The summary seems to imply that a sequence of questionable decisions made by one physician extends past the psychiatric ward and reaches a hospital that appears to be internally conflicted. Could Dr. Ford be a physician harboring a belief in his own deity-like abilities, or is he a pawn in these internal struggles himself?

“With the investigation closing in, can Dr Ford save his already fragile career from a string of apparently damning mistakes? And can the MIU uncover the truth of what happened despite fierce opposition from all sides?”

Besides Victoria’s Hughes, the second season will also feature Selin Hizli from Am I Being Unreasonable, Zoë Telford known for Sherlock, Hannah McClean from Blue Lights, Seraphina Beh of Top Boy, Rick Warden from Happy Valley, and Ace Bhatti who appeared in Line of Duty.

Malpractice will return on ITV1 and ITVX in spring.
