Sharp-eyed viewers noticed a clear error in the latest trailer for The Devil Wears Prada 2, released on Monday.
As the new fashion editor Andrea Sachs (Anne Hathaway) walked confidently through a bustling crosswalk, someone unexpectedly jumped into the background of a photo being taken.
A woman in a yellow taxi was clearly filming the 43-year-old Oscar winner with her iPhone, reaching her arm out the window to get the shot.
Although most of the people crossing the street were likely hired actors, the director, David Frankel, and his team couldn’t prevent regular passersby from appearing in the background shots during filming.
On August 5th, a photographer spotted a crowd watching Rebel Wilson and her co-star Patrick Brammall film a date scene outdoors. People were so curious, they stopped to watch while enjoying their meals.
A Twitter user, @filmsactress, expressed extreme annoyance, saying they were ‘fried’ by seeing someone hanging their phone far out the window of a trailer.
X user @supremesappho wrote: ‘People will say she’s a first timer tourist in New York.’
‘I mean, we all would,’ X user @LilyBrookeh tweeted.
‘Because that’s Andy Sachs,’ X user @rudyfunkmeyer agreed. ‘A million girls would kill for that job!’
X user @INS0MNlATlC tweeted: ‘But that’s very tourist in NYC core.’
‘And the camera captured her completely LOL!’ X user @KingbossaVibez wrote.
Another detail viewers picked up on in the trailer for the new sequel was the music – an unreleased collaboration between Lady Gaga and Doechii called “Runway.”
Lady Gaga, age 40, makes a cameo appearance in the upcoming film The Devil Wears Prada 2, filmed in Milan. It’s currently unknown whether she portrays a specific character or simply plays herself, as reported by Variety.
The movie also stars a fantastic cast including Meryl Streep, Stanley Tucci, Emily Blunt, Justin Theroux, Kenneth Branagh, Lucy Liu, Pauline Chalamet, B. J. Novak, Rachel Bloom, Sydney Sweeney, and even appearances by Donatella Versace, Ciara, and Ashley Graham.
The sequel to The Devil Wears Prada, with a massive $150 million budget, will hit cinemas in the US and UK on May 1st.
The 2006 movie, based on Lauren Weisberger’s 2003 book, was a critical and commercial success, earning $326.7 million worldwide on a $41 million budget.
Aline Brosh McKenna, who directed and wrote the first film, returned alongside producers Wendy Finerman and Karen Rosenfelt. Florian Ballhaus handled the cinematography again, while Nicki Ledermann led the makeup team and Julia Michels oversaw the music, all continuing their work from the original movie.
After HBO Max revived Sex and the City with And Just Like That…, Molly Rogers took over costume design, replacing Patricia Field for the second time.
